Nursing informatics integrates computer and information science to establish proper management in nursing. Informatics in nursing aids in integrating data and knowledge so as to assist nurses, patients, and other healthcare givers in making decisions in any field (Kaminski, 2019). Research shows that nurses here concentrate on enhancing the management of information and also relaying information so as to ensure that the health of people, their families, and communities are best improved. Informatics nurses are highly on-demand today.

In informatics, nurses play a very significant role in influencing information technology in nursing. In this, they are able to see to it that the safety of their patients is improved, and the care given is more efficient. Other nursing specialties are different from nursing informatics in that a unique focus is put on the information technology and the mode of service delivery.

In the future, to work in nursing informatics, one will need to be highly competitive so as to be able to work and adapt fairly well in such environments, which are multifaceted. Informatics nurses should possess primary computer skills and have knowledge of information (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). Nevertheless, they should be in a position to manage this information. A curriculum incorporating nursing informatics was first introduced in 1977 (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). Years after that, many universities continued with the same.

Nurses should be subjected to this education and training to see to it that they become competent and attain full potential when it comes to informatics. Nevertheless, since informatics nurses are on high demand, more and more nurses should be subjected to this education and training to ensure that there is no shortage of professionals in informatics (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). They should be provided with this information to ensure they are in a position to engage in decision making as well as manage any information properly. This would safeguard the future of nursing informatics. Nevertheless, it would only mean that there would be no shortage of nurses’ in informatics in the near future.

Many education opportunities are there to prepare nurses in informatics. These opportunities are very vital in the future of nursing informatics. They are necessary for the continuation and enhancement of nursing informatics in the future. By providing these nurses with the skills necessary for them to play their roles in informatics, they become competent in this field and hence perfect their roles and are reliable today and in the future (Nelson & Staggers, 2016). The programs available and also either in formal or informal education prepare these nurses as well in becoming perfect in this area.

For nurses to be termed as successful in informatics, they must be in a position to communicate well while carrying out their roles as nurses. The competency attained by these nurses during training clearly is a sign of hope for nursing informatics in the future. It is possible for these nurses to communicate well and hence work together with others in the same field to influence this technology and also change the way in which care is administered.

Informatics nurses should be part and parcel of this technology design to ensure that adoption becomes rapid (McCormick, & Saba, 2015). Also, by funding this healthcare information technology, the systems here and the devices used will enhance nurses’ roles in providing for proper and safe healthcare and also enhance their efficiency in the present day and in days to come. Also, these nurses should be supported in any way possible in their attempt to move this care in hospitals having a future setting. All along with informatics, nurses should be perceived as significant as they use this technology to facilitate its establishment in the future (McCormick & Saba, 2015).
