The main populations targeted are the patients entering the programs of substance abuse treatment. It is from these patients that retrogressive data was gathered. The main information derived from them was the past patterns of drug use.
Describe the samples designs for the SKIP Program and the RAPID survey, respectively? Briefly, describe the observed samples.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
For the SKIP Program, data from opioid-dependent patients who completed a survey in the timeframe of the third quarter of 2010 to the third quarter of 2013 and data was analyzed from that time frame. With the RAPID survey, a model for a two-way exchange of information was used, through web-based and brief interviews (Cicero, 2014).
SURVEYS AND FINDINGS
What are the modes of administration used by SKIP Program and the RAPID survey, respectively? What sort of interview format was employed in SKIP Program? What sort of interview format was employed in the RAPID survey? Briefly, contrast the objectives of unstructured and structured interviews.
For the SKIP Program, the mode of administration was the identification of information about opioid drug abuse through a series of questions. For the RAPID survey, respondents were required to answer through the internet. The interview format for the SKIP Program is one-on-one interview while that of the RAPID survey was through the email. The objective of the unstructured survey was to derive basic information while the structured interview provided general information.
Discuss the construction of variable named the first decade of the initiation of opioid abuse and how Cicero et al . (2014) used it in the analysis of the SKIP Program data.
The first opioid abusers’ decade was calculated by subtracting the age of completing the survey from the year of survey completion and then adding the results to the first regular abuser’s age of an opioid. The variable was then used in the categorization of decade blocks.
Discuss the findings of the SKIP Program.
The number of users
For the SKIP data, 88 was the estimated number of opioid abusers who ranged in 1960s to higher than 1600 in the present a hundred years. For the users who started using opioid drug during the 60s, most recounted starting with heroin.
From discuss the findings of the RAPID survey.
The RAPID survey, about 98.1% of the respondents reported that the effect of heroin was stronger that opioid and that heroinwas mostly preferred because it was a cheaper drug.
STUDY STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS
What are the study’s strengths? Discuss.
The strength of the study is that it identifies the rate of both heroin and opioid drug abuse in relation to the years and the factors that drive the use. This is important in identifying the changing trends in drug abuse hence fighting the abuse of drugs will be easier and effective.
What are the Study’s limitations? Discuss.
The limitation of the study is that it because of a little bit too specific with the drugs abused. It would have been more useful if a broader view of the nature of drug abuse would have been studied which would also help in fighting a wide range of drugs.
