Type of Organizational Structure at SRMC 

Organizational structure plays an important role in any entity because it provides the framework for communication and reporting in various situations. Therefore, Sebastian River Medical Center (SRMC) developed one of the most effective organizational structures to achieve the set goals and objectives. SRMC is using a divisional organizational structure to ensure that it provides quality health care services to all its patients while addressing the needs of the local communities. The major divisions in the organization include cancer care, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, heart care, stroke care, critical care, and surgery (SRMC, 2019). The organizational assessment, therefore, focuses on the surgery division, especially Ambulatory Surgery Perioperative Unit at the organization. SRMC offers many surgery services to patients across the country. SRMC has been able to offer quality services because its organizational structure ensures independent operations of each division or unit, resulting in effective and efficient utilization of available resources. 

Lines of Communication and Reporting and Leadership 

The success of any ambulatory surgery depends on effective communication, which ensures accurate sharing of patient information and any other relevant data ( Vermeir et al., 2015) . Thus, based on SRMC’s organizational chart, the organization is majorly relying on downwards lines o communication and reporting, primarily in the Ambulatory Surgery Perioperative Unit. Ambulatory surgery is a complex process that requires the use of specific knowledge and skills, as well as expertise. The organization is using lines of communication downwards and reporting to ensure that specific tasks and instructions are adhered to by health professionals in the unit and to promote accurate sharing of information ( Vermeir et al., 2015) . In many cases, critical communication is initiated by the head of the unit to understand organizational procedures and practices. However, there are instances where horizontal or upward lines of communication are used in the unit, especially when a task requires teamwork or collaboration among employees.

SRMC is headed and managed by able leaders who have much experience in the industry. The current president and CEO of the organization is Kyle Sanders, who has a lot of experience in the healthcare sector, especially on financial matters ( Genz, 2018) . Booth Christopher, on the other hand, is the head of the surgical services in the organization. The company has been facing many power and control issues in the past few years. For instance, in 2018, its CEO Kelly Enriquez resigned, including Dona Jones, who was the marketing director ( Genz, 2018) . Nonetheless, under the leadership of Kyle Sanders, SRMC is enjoying stable leadership, which may enhance its success. 

How Social and Cultural Factors are Integrated into the Delivery of Care in SRMC 

SRMC is aware that the social and cultural factors greatly influence the quality and effectiveness of its healthcare services in the community. For instance, the local people are fond of eating unhealthy food, and the majority lives a sedentary lifestyle. The cultural food traditions are also preventing local community from consuming healthy diets. Therefore, under the community health care programs, SRMC is working collectively and individually with local people to ensure that they engage in healthy behaviors and practices (SRMC, 2019). Besides, the organization is training the local community in various ways to prevent and manage various diseases. Thus, SRMC is using partnership and training to integrate social and cultural factors in the delivery of its care services. 

How Generational Differences Influence Organizational Culture 

Generational differences have a significant influence on the organization’s culture because they determine the policies that are formulated and implemented by an entity. The three main generations that are actively involved in the employment sector include millennials, Generation X, and Baby Boomers who have different expectations and work culture. For instance, millennials are techno-savvy, and they show little inclination towards loyalty to the employer ( Rodriguez et al., 2019) . Baby boomers, on the other hand, believe in hard work and hierarchical organizational system. Therefore, an organization must factor in the expectations and needs of different generations in policy formulation and implementation, which ends up affecting organizational culture. 

Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan of SRMC 

The mission of SRMC is to improve quality, patient-based, and evidence-based health care services to its clients while supporting the surrounding communities (SRMC, 2019). Its mission, on the other hand, is to become the leading health organization in Florida and neighboring states. To achieve its strategic plan, SRMC is determined to work together with all relevant stakeholders to achieve the set goals and objectives. The organization is relying on modern technologies to provide quality and convenient care services. Besides, it is creating a favorable working environment for its employees to promote productivity and performance, leading to long-term success. With the increasing demand for quality and convenient health care services, SRMC is likely to enjoy rapid growth in the future. 

How Nursing Fits in the Organization 

Like any other healthcare organization, SRMC cannot function without nurses because they play a critical role in a healthcare setting. To enhance the quality of care services, SRMC is incorporating nursing in patient safety, education, and care (SRMC, 2019). Nurses are employed in all the division in the organization, and they are expected to address the specific needs of patients. As a result, the organization has employed many nurses.
