Quality assurance program in diagnostic radiology is well defined as an organized effort by the staff working in a health facility to ensure that the service given to the patient is of high quality with the lowest possible cost and with the least risk of exposure of the patient to radiation. Diagnosing facility determines the quality in the quality assurance programs that include the imaging machine system. Quality assurance actions are composed of both administrative procedures and quality control techniques, as such this paper discusses on the connection between the learnings in the health management programs and the radiology project primarily based on quality measures and quality administrative procedures. As learned from the risk management and quality assurance course, complete analysis was done in Atrius Centre whereby information was collected through questionnaires and service quality tools in the context of quality determination and risk management in the aim of finding suitable and recommendable solutions in improving patient experience in radiology departments.

Human frailty plays a role in the risk management programs, research has continued to show that incompetence and medical errors have contributed to the death of many people in each and every year. Wrong medications and inadvertent administration of overdoses, wrong screening or inappropriate imaging practices are likely to result in tragic outcomes. Risk management programs aim in ensuring safe and secure environment for both health providers and the patients, and to effort in eliminating and defending against errors in health institutions (Ip et al., 2013). This is made possible with the integration of a strategic plan into an institution’s system. My radiology project primarily relies on the foundation of health management. Through an analysis of quality assurance from radiologists, their skills and competency levels are better validated to help the health administrators intervene on areas of weakness within health systems. As learned in the risk management and quality assurance class, such actions would only be possible through various strategies including research processes and informed decision making through statistical analysis. The results produce quality, productive and technological techniques that are likely to uplift a targeted health organization to a competitive position.

Since the risks involved in medical practices are mainly involved in the medical imaging and interventional radiology, selection of a related field for the internship was necessary for the project. Clinicians in radiology departments are expected to improve the general quality of care delivered to patients. Moreover, the specialists are supposed to persuade administrators to make sensible decisions about resource allocation, for instance, buying of new equipment and performance expectations. Such a critical responsibility would highly depend on operations planning and execution as demonstrated in the healthcare operations class in the course. Thus, identification of some of the issues contributing to harms in advance before a potential trial that may be faulty (Seung et al., 2013). On the basis of the healthcare operations course, restructuring of the scheduling system in Atrius Centre required proper management of resource allocation and the immediate execution of the CDS tool.

Both cost and quality are the main indicators of care in the health care system. In many cases the problems associated with quality delivery outweighs the finances, the reduction in the quality of health services is dependent on the individual delivering the service. This relates to the management of healthcare whereby a health care manager is required to communicate with staff and listen to possible solutions in dealing with problems. The quality of service is then primarily determined by people working in teams towards patient satisfaction. Communication errors occurring in the treatment cycle can result in errors or a poor patient quality experience.

Change in management is prompted by several approaches that include the facilitation of good working relations among departments that are directly connected to IT systems. For instance, embedding the clinical decision support software in the MRI department needed a relation between the MRI department and IT support team. Secondly, the maintenance of inventory listing of the devices and systems available in a health facility, for example, software versions. Taking the necessary steps in ensuring that changes are assessed, tested and implemented in a proper manner (Papp, 2018). With the implementation of CDS tool, the working environment of Atrius Centre shall define practical human resource management due to the institutions’ labor relations and enthusiasm on adopting new practices that would positively impact the patients’ healthcare. This is in line with the human resources management class that identifies how an effective human resource management strategy would impact positively on patient satisfaction and welfare.

By integrating appropriate skills and operational strategies, radiology specialists can guarantee quality care. Additionally, departmental use of guidelines and protocols reduces decisional and operational risks. Due to technological advances and globalization of healthcare, radiology is rapidly evolving making it hard for the specialists to meet patient satisfaction but it should hinder quality services. With innovation, responsive measures, risk management, and survey to all potential problems can all improve radiology services.
