Both the UTMB and the Creighton University patients policies talks of the right of patients to informed care. It aims at ensuring that the patients always receive the correct information whenever they need it, and it is the responsibility of the caregivers to provide such information to the patients and family members whenever it is needed.
Right to safety and security: The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the safety and security of the patients are provided. Patients have the right to remain secure and safe while in the facility. It is the responsibility of the caregivers as well as the management of the health care organization to put appropriate measures in place to ascertain the safety and security of the patients. Any acts of violent behaviors that could interfere with the safety and security of the patients shall not be allowed within the health care organization.
