In this family, the health problems vary among the members. The genetic predisposition is the father passing the colorblindness to the daughter and other siblings. The first generation may be responsible for some of the genetic problem, where the proband’s father got the colorblindness issue. Cancer is another genetic problem, which may have been inherited genetically from both sides of the family. Two aunts from the mother’s and father’s side have cancer. It creates the need for the proband and her sister to be screened for cancer at an early age so that the problem can be managed.

Other health problems in the family cannot be passed down in generations. However, they are fatal and that is why it is necessary to address them. In the case of diabetes, the nurse has to provide the grandmother with management methods she should apply. In that way, she will manage her sugar levels and conduct a normal life. The uncle with kidney stones can be recommended to undergo surgery since that would solve the problem permanently. When the nurse understands health needs in this family, they can be guided on management methods thus living a healthy life.

The nursing intervention that should be used in this case is the problem-focused approach. The strategy pays attention at specific health issues. Since the family has variant health problems, the nurse should have enough knowledge concerning these health problems. Each family member will receive the medical services they require depending on the health problems. Cases such as colorblindness will involve the patient and the father and learning about the probability of passing the health issue to the next generation. Conditions such as cancer will be addressed together to save time, though the cancers are different, the treatment and management methods are almost similar.
