Leadership is an aspect that involves the organizing of a group of team members to work towards achieving common organizational goals. Leaders are known to inspire and motivate people, and it is an essential aspect of the organization’s decision-making process. A personal leadership model requires a leader to adopt positive leadership skills so that they get in charge of their personal lives other than getting controlled by other factors. It begins when one takes up the role of becoming their life coach and aspire to adhere to a personal mission. Personal leadership dimensions utilize personal traits that involve the cognitive thinking process, innovative behavior, and interactions that advance respectful ways of working with people on individual levels and as a team. The leadership levels that would be discussed to highlight personal leadership values include the values that guide one from an individual perspective, the values that guide one from an interpersonal perspective, values that guide one from a societal perspective and values that guide one from an organizational perspective as discussed in this essay.

Values that Guide you from Individual Perspective

My opinion on leadership principles is that a leader should be influential while adhering to the fundamental values that guide their daily activities in their leadership roles. The attributes that guide an individual’s behavior and actions determine how an individual understands the world and how they treat the environment and the people around them. My perspective on leadership is guided by a variety of values, which include a logical thinking process, intellectual thinking, loyalty, responsibility, and self-control. I believe that the mentioned values are essential in guiding the decision-making process and how leaders think and solve problems that other people face.

Logical thinking in leadership helps leaders in reasoning through the decision-making process, solving problems, and coming up with creative ideas. All situations that arise within an organization call for critical thinking skills to reach a solution. As a leader, it guides me in understanding the behavioral patterns of the people close to me and helps me to understand my duties and improve on myself as well as those people around me. Intellectualism, loyalty, and responsibility are other essential aspects that ensure that leaders respectably conduct themselves despite the difference in beliefs with the people that surround them. Intellectualism helps me as a leader to have a positive attribute on how I reflect on certain ideas that are essential for my growth as a leader. As much as I have a good insight, it would be impossible for me to achieve personal goals and objectives that would help inspire affective leadership if I fail to reflect on my personality and my personal choices. Self-control is an aspect that any leader cannot do without as people who lead others must be in a position to lead themselves. It helps a leader to grow their self-restraint that is essential for one to remain relevant as a leader. Lack of self-control makes one vulnerable to any reaction that may temper with their ability to make critical decisions in their leadership position. Low self-esteem makes a leader to be rendered as ineffective. Self-control maximizes the chances of a leader to boost performance, especially when dealing with adversity. The combination of the three leadership values is essential in ensuring an effective way for leaders to be good, effective, and reliable.

Values that Guide You from an Interpersonal Perspective

Interpersonal relationships in leadership are the strong association between a leader and the group of people that he/she is in charge of. It is how an individual relates to other people within the same environment. In my opinion, I believe that the values that a leader holds relating to the interpersonal perceptual understanding of the relationship with other people require that a leader should not interfere with the space of other people and vice versa. Both parties should be independent when it comes to matters that concern personal space. Among the values that guide one from an interpersonal perspective is the value of equality. I believe that if leaders allow or entertain any form of discrimination, then they encourage a hostile working environment and hate among the people under their leadership influence. This fact, therefore, means that for leaders to develop strong connections with other people, they are required to embrace the aspect of equality (Behrendt et al., 2017.p.229). Additionally, freedom and social recognition are the other values that guide me from an interpersonal perspective. Through the two values, I have improved on my leadership model because they enable me to create connections with the people that I am in charge of, an aspect that has enabled me to boost my charismatic attributes. Charisma is essential in breeding the element of loyalty that is an important aspect of leadership.

Values that Guide You from an Organizational Perspective

An effective leader should be in a position to work for a common vision that contributes positively to the growth of other people (Palmeret al., 2001) . Effectiveness in leadership depends on how the leader uses his leadership skills to inspire the drive in people to work towards common goals. The three core values that I have confidence in, and I believe would guide my leadership model from an organizational perspective are ambition, capability, and helpfulness. These values guide leaders in their leadership models and guide them on how to manage an organization. Ambition is an aspect that plays an essential role in the success of a leader. It is a leader’s vision of how they could contribute to the success of the organization. Ambition, therefore, drives a leader towards achieving a self-drive that is an effective way of personal and organizational growth. Ambitious leaders are the only kind of leaders that can help an organization to become successful in achieving its goals. Ambition as a value is essential in ensuring that I help the organization to achieve great results in my leadership roles. Capability and helpfulness are essential in leadership. As a leader, I am required to be capable of leading others and to help those who have problems. Providing solutions to others is a must for a leader who aspires to enhance success in the organization.

Values that Guide You from a Societal Perspective

When it comes to society, I am guided by three values, which include wisdom, a sense of accomplishment, and the pursuit of a comfortable life. These three values determine how I apply my leadership skills to enhance change in the world within the environment that I work from. Wisdom is an important aspect of decision-making because wise leaders lead people in making the right decisions in person and for the organization. As a wise leader, I am capable of assembling much knowledge and understanding to empower the people that I lead in making the right decisions promptly. Wisdom helps me to understand life in an open-minded manner that provides room for correct decision-making approaches that enhance results that positively impact the life of society. A sense of accomplishment motivates one to work even harder in achieving their goals. Leaders should make employees have a sense of accomplishment in the workplace as a factor to motivate them to work harder. Everybody becomes encouraged when they feel that their efforts are recognized. Accomplishment enables leaders to make positive steps in their lives, in their employee’s lives and the lives of members of society at large. It enables leaders to do things within their leadership roles and outside their leadership roles that have a sense of permanence, which attributes to the positive impacts that leaders have to society following the societal perspective. The last value of a comfortable life is important for me because it shapes my behavior in that I keep in mind the fact that every action that a leader takes contributes to a better life for everyone. Employees within an organization can perform better when they are comfortable with their lives. A leader’s actions should, therefore, aim towards making every member of society live in comfort.

In conclusion, leadership foundation values should not only lead but also inspire other members in the organization and society at large. Such values not only drive me to put my best at work but also encourage others around me to put their level best at work. Achieving organizational goals requires me to embrace the values that inspire creativity and enhance a form of interactions at all levels of organizational units, which is beneficial to employees and the leaders as well. The different sections highlighted above bring out the essence of the identified set of values and elaborate on how the values influence the way that employees perform in the work environment. As a leader, the values will not only help to efficiently lead the organization in achieving its mission but also to provide a conducive environment that is comfortable for employees to produce their level best at the workplace. This calls for dedication and discipline from me as the leader because I act as a role model for all people in society.
