Values are essential in human life because they help people grow, develop, and create a future they want to experience. Each day, every individual makes numerous decisions that reflect on the values, beliefs, and directed for specific purposes (Parsons, 2017). The objective is the satisfaction of the individual needs. The biblical scriptures also teach about ethical values. In Exodus 20:1–17, Christians have values such as not stealing, committing adultery, and lying to other people. In Matthew 5:1–10, the bible encourages Christians to exercise values such as showing mercy, making peace, and be free of pride. From the fruits of the holy spirit in Galatians 5:22–23, the bible urges the people to be patient, kind, faithful, have self-control, and be joyful.

In my life, some of the values are evident, for instance, showing mercy, not stealing, making peace, and being faithful. These values have played a significant role in enhancing my relationship with God and other people around me. The values also enable me to live a righteous life, both spiritually and socially. The top five values that match my life and other people can see include honesty, showing mercy, patient, kindliness, and free of pride. I have learned that these personal values are fundamental in enhancing the relationship between people who surround me.

My top three values are kindness, patience, and humility. The value of kindness and humility has been shaped by my parents, while humility has been shaped by religious education and life experience. I have discovered that my parents have played a critical role in shaping most of my values. Humility is my top value because it enables me to fit into different groups of people in society (Woodruff, Van Tongeren, & McElroy, 2014). the exercise is beneficial because it allows individuals to reflect on their values and appreciate what shapes them. In the future, I would wish to acquire the value of generosity because I am passionate about helping needy people in society.
