Regarding the Brookdale CAUTI protocol, it is quite effective when it comes to minimizing indwelling urinary catheter related infections particularly for the critically ill patients. Various hospitals have utilized the protocol in allowing them to reduce and present Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) among patients in line with boosting the safety culture. It has done this by implementing unit-level concepts attained from the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP). For the healthcare professionals, in distinct healthcare institutions, they have utilized it improving making care safer among patients through making sure to follow the clinically best practices while at the same time focusing on the establishment of a safety culture (Meddings, et al., 2014) . Additionally, the protocol comprises of practical and evidence-based resources, which replicate real-world scenarios of frontline researchers and providers who take part in the deployment of projects aimed at minimizing CAUTIs. The protocol also builds on the basic CUSP toolkit by availing the necessary tools that emphasize on the minimization of CAUTI in healthcare settings. In improving its effectiveness, the Brookdale CAUTI protocol features three modules, including implementation, sustainability, and resources, which hospital units can utilize when it comes to teaching members of ways of deploying CUSP in preventing CAUTI (AHRQ, 2019) . The utilization of the protocol together with the AHRQ CUSP Toolkit makes it possible to enhance or develop a culture of safety among patients, which plays a critical role in minimizing rates of CAUTI together with other threats attributed to indwelling catheter utilization.

The Brookdale CAUTI Protocol compares to the national/universal protocol. In this case, it is crucial to note that CAUTIs serve as the commonly reported conditions acquired from hospitals while their rates are on the rise. Over 560,000 patients develop the condition annually, which contributes to prolonged stays in hospital, increased costs of healthcare, and patient morality and morbidity. For Brookdale CAUTI protocol, it has played a critical role in assisting RNs in minimizing the rates of CAUTI to prevent harm and save lives in the same manner as other national CAUTI protocol. In the event of the American Nurses Association), it provides a streamlined, innovative, and evidence-based clinical tool that leading experts have developed to assist in dealing with CAUTI cases (Meddings, et al., 2014) . With hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) serving as key threats to the safety of the patients with costs approximated to be around $33 billion, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has devised a countrywide approach aimed at minimizing numerous healthcare associated infections (HAIs). The nurses serve as major forces behind the efforts aimed at minimizing HAI to hinder the avoidable threats, mortality, and morbidity associated with them while at the same time reducing costs (CDC, 2019) . In this case, the Brookdale CAUTI Protocol has remained at the forefront in ensuring to cope with the diverse requirements in order to ensure continued protection against CAUTIs and other related conditions (NursingWorld, 2019) . The effectiveness of the Brookdale CAUTI Protocol has led it to emerge as a major force behind facilitating patient safety in the same way as other national CAUTI protocols.

In the event of the Brookdale CAUTI Protocol, it is following best practice. For instance, it ensures to follow several areas aimed at improving evidence-based clinical care. For instance, it hinders inappropriate utilization of catheter during the short term. It also requires that nurses ensure to remove the urinary catheters in a timely manner. Additionally, it offers guidelines for catheter care at the time of placement (CDC, 2019) . Furthermore, it requires nursing assessment and screening in line with requiring evidence-based management of urinary incontinence and retention hence minimizing utilization of the catheter.
