I understand the results of this article to mean that many police officers find themselves excessively tired after attending to their duties. The many violent scenes observed from police officers could be a result of stress that arises after working for long hours without rests in-between (Kurtz, 1999). The results appear to say that the police force is not for the people with less stamina of overcoming the challenges that it brings about. That is why there is a feeling that this job is mostly for men and not women.

One of the recommendations that I can give to the police executives is that he needs to come up with shorter work shifts for the police officers. Woking shorter shifts will help them avoid burnout, which will eventually lead to a proper concentration on their work. It will be possible for the police officers to handle their various issues in the most professional manner and without displacing their stress to innocent people. As Caruso (2014) points out, long work shifts lead to fatigue-related errors, which may impact the given profession negatively. Once the police executive comes up with such a strategy, it will be possible for him to bring down cases of high irritability among the police force.

Another recommendation that I would give him is that he has to ensure that he employs enough police officers so that he can come up with a short shift for police officers. Otherwise, with an understaffed police force, it will not be possible for him to allocate the police officers a short shift. As Boon, Eckardt, Lepak & Boselie (2017) point out, having enough human capital is one of the strategies of success. It, therefore, means that the police executive must look for funds that will make it possible for him to recruit more police officers so that each officer works for fewer hours. More so, with enough officers, he will be in a position of assigning the female police officer lighter duties so that they do not suffer from burnouts.
