Summary
One of the key elements in the article pertains to the idea that the number of young voters is bound to increase compared to the situation in previous elections. Also, it is apparent that young people are increasingly becoming aware of the essence of voting. Additionally, the number of people voting in the midterm elections in 2018 ended up being 10 percentage higher when compared to 2014 (Bauer-Wolf Jeremy, 2018). It is undoubtedly the highest rate recorded just yet. Evidence obtained also shows that youths are increasingly becoming interested in politics. It has further been revealed that successful political activism has also contributed to the huge turn observed among the youth.
Application
In the textbook it is has been established that the many challenges facing the youths such as gun violence have contributed to the upsurge in the number of young voters ( Karen O'Connor & Larry ). This has also been highlighted in the article where it has been revealed that the young people have been motivated by gun violence to participate in elections. This concept bears a lot of significance in the sense that most of the elected leaders are old people who end up not heeding fully to the needs of the youths. As a result, the young people feel strongly that they should find someone who is in a position to assist them in addressing the problems they are facing. The only way this can become a reality is if they get to participate in the elections.

Analysis
The American government is not especially keen on the events occurring in the society such as the mass shooting of young people. This is an element which has prompted youths to become politically active, since they believe that this is the only way they can get to change some of the undesirable occurrences in the society. My discernment based on this perspective is that government`s lack of response is set to not only encourage the youths to vote, but also to participate revolts that may not entirely be resourceful.
