Tammy Worth, in this post, talks of the negative effects of the different forms of treatments that patients receive. Those with cancer, for instance, are the ones that receive the highest attention from the post since they are they also suffer from pressure ulcers (Worth, 2016). In her concluding statement in this article, she quotes Blackhall, and the main point from the quote is that we need to take up treatment approaches that allow comfortable and decent life other than approaches that make living painful in the last days.

To make a case for this conclusion, Worth gives different forms of treatment that can be categorized as dangerous. CPR and Chemotherapy are the techniques that are noted. CPR, for instance, brings about pressure ulcers when pressure is continuously applied on the chest of patients who cannot move (Worth, 2016). Thus, patients with terminal conditions get to live long although other complications develop which limits the quality of life they have. Pain and discomfort are characteristic of pressure ulcers.

The author uses both logical argumentation and rhetoric. In one instance, Worth asks how we want to live. The rhetoric question draws readers to the need for a better and happy life. On the other end, the author employs argumentation when he asserts that all of us are going to die and therefore there is no need to make the process painful. Lastly, the author’s reasoning is viable. Terminal diseases, such as cancer, lead to death and there is no need to cause further pain by treatment techniques that will only worsen the well-being of patients without having a significant impact on their health. CPR and Chemotherapy (that are mentioned) may help to keep patients alive but exposes them to conditions such as pressure ulcers.
