During the professional practice experience, the staff members of the organization handled themselves in a very professional manner. The staff displayed a high level of ethical conduct and showed various communication and leadership qualities through the mentorship program. The organization greatly values and supports student mentorship programs in the organization through student engagement and participation. One may gain a lot as a student after attending the professional practice experience programs in the organization, by acquiring certain important skills in Health Informatics and Information Management. The organization promotes professional development through paid time offs and tuition reimbursement. In-house, training is also offered by the organization for its employees. This paper aims to describe the some of the qualities of professionalism, as observed from the PPE program, and other aspects of the organization in question as observed from the visit. 

How Professionalism was demonstrated 

The organization staff displayed quite a high-level of professionalism in relation to their confidentiality, attitudes, behavior, leadership skills and work ethics. The staff showed a high level of confidentiality on matters of management. The staff explained in details about some of the operations of the company but carefully made sure not to expose some of the management information such as disciplinary actions or terminations. Other critical company information such as client lists, financial data, and business plans were also never exposed by the staff members during the professional practice experience. This shows the quality of the organization staff in terms of upholding confidentiality. The staff also communicated in a very influential and professional way. They displayed various communication skills such as listening, confidence, open-mindedness and also used nonverbal aspects of communication here and there. They allowed time for questions, listened and explained answers in length using relevant examples. By looking at the employee attitude, one can see the reason behind the great productivity of the company. Every staff member showed a great attitude towards their work which gave a good impression of the company.

One striking factor about the company is the ethical conduct of its employees. In the organization, every staff member treats every other person with a lot of respects and attention. There is a great sense of courtesy in the language and conduct of the staff members. The dressing code is highly official with all the male workers in suits or official uniforms while all the female workers are either in uniform or proper dresses. The behavior and conduct displayed by the staff members was exquisite. The staff showed and demonstrated some of the leadership skills during the professional practice experience. One of the most remarkable skills showed by the staff members is their ability to influence and motivate others. They showed other qualities and skills of leadership such as good communication, flexibility, creativity, confidence, and also in the way they delegated work. Through the employee conduct and ethical behavior, one would understand that the company values a high a standard of ethical conduct and behavior. 

Reflecting on the PPE 

The organization values student engagement in the workplace which is demonstrated by the great experience accorded to the students. The organization values student participation in their workplace and promotes proper educations and training to students. They believe that students hold the future of the company as most students get internship and even job opportunities after completion of their studies, in the company. The vastness of the company and the wide range of the company operations provide many opportunities. Through student participation in the workplace, the company also gets to market itself. The professional practice experience from the organization provides a student with some of the important Health Informatics and Information Management skills such as verbal communication and computer skills. The training and skills provided by the staff members in the organization are quite relevant to Health Informatics and Information Management studies. 

The mentoring skills of the staff members greatly influenced my experience during the professional practice experience in the organization. The staff members made the session lively and enjoyable. The staff provided corrective feedback, encouragement and actively found a way to build trust and open doors. This way, the session was made quite interactive, with more questions being asked and more answers flying in from the preceptors. The staff member listened carefully to the students and provided proper illustrations to the issues raised by the students. The preceptors also asked tough questions in order to create more awareness and dig deeper into the issues of concern. The mentorship program by the staff was quite inspiring making every student feels the need to excel and work in similar place as the organization. The overall performance of the organization in terms of mentoring was great. Perhaps one of the things which would have improved my learning during the PPE would be if I was allowed to operate certain processes on the computers. 

The organization greatly promotes professional development through a variety of ways. Tuition reimbursements are offered to those who pursue further professional education and continue to work with the organization. As a worker in the company, one may choose to defer his or her tuition to be paid at the completion of the course. This way, the worker does not have to pay for the tuition as the company will absolutely chip in to pay the fees once the education is completed. The organization also has a training center which offers various courses for professional development. Employees get cut-prices in tuition fees and get the opportunity to advance in their professions. The company also offers paid time off to workers. 

In-house training is offered to employees in the organization in a variety of ways. Educational practices are offered every week during the organizational meetings. Employees from various departments have weekly training programs in which they get to know important updates in their areas of expertise. Apart from the weekly training, the organization also has trading college institute which offers various programs and developmental courses. Employees are encouraged to take part in some of the programs or take some of the relevant courses in order to advance their profession and actively promote the organization’s production. The in-house training is advantageous to both the employees and the organization many ways. The courses are flexible, and it is easier to organize, and the trainer can schedule the classes in favor of the employees. 

It is important to uphold professional qualities such as ethical behavior, good attitude, confidentiality and have good leadership skills in a workplace as observed from the professional practice experience program. The staff members displayed a good conduct and showed a great attitude towards creating a good picture of the organization. One may learn a lot from the professional practice experience as the skills obtained during the program are quite important in Health Informatics and Information Management. The mentoring skills employed by the staff during the program, such as motivational skills, made the session quite enjoyable and interactive. The organization’s approach to professional development is good one as it supports employees through tuition reimbursements and also organizes educational training programs for the employees which in term promotes its development and performance
