Professional standards and related codes of conduct are essential in the nursing career. In their practice, nurses are expected to reflect on the professional codes and ethics associated with the profession. RS-BSN professionals are responsible for maintaining the code of conduct and maintaining health and safety while dealing with patients and other workers in the professional. As an RS-BSN, I clearly understand my future professional is entitled to how well I understand the principles of conduct at the school level and how well I will use them in the work environment. This paper reflects the RS-DSN program at WCU on ethical principles and understanding contained on Essential VIII. I will apply my knowledge of healthcare and ethics, policy, organization, and healthcare financing. This reflection will demonstrate that I am ready to use my professional, ethical conduct learned in school to offering services to the patients.
Essential VIII is an advancement of essential VII which aims at improving the professional values of nursing practices. The principle is aimed at improving the standard outcome of the patients. In this principle, medical practitioners demonstrate their advanced clinical judgment, thinking, and evidence care delivery skills. It focusses on assessing the patients' needs comprehensively, mentoring other nurses, and giving guidance to patients who undergo transitional situations that are so complex to them. In this essential, the nurses have to show their deep understanding of their professional values, such as: demonstrate care to their patients, show respects to other nurses, having an understanding and awareness regarding the professional values in their quest to provide quality services (Poorchangizi et al., 2017). Every nurse should showcase high ethical conduct and a high commitment to improving the patient's needs.

Over the last couple of months, I got the privilege to exercise my school theory in practice. I was enrolled in two programs: NUR 521: Ethics of health care, and NURS 521: policy, organization, and financing healthcare. The first programmed I enrolled was NUR 521: Ethics of health care. As I practiced my profession, I encountered an individual with ovarian cysts that, when not treated, would lead to kidney failure (SJU, 2020) . The best option to prevent kidney failure was surgery, which the patient was scared of due to their fears for needles, which was a necessity for the administration of the anesthesia. The doctors were forced to respect the autonomy principle, which demands respect for the patient's needs. I learned that nurses are faced with many dilemmas in their profession and ethical conduct. This experience was important to me because I understood the importance of adhering to professional conduct. In this case, the ethical principles of beneficence and autonomy collided. The doctor had to consider improving the status of the patient, considering that she hated operations and needles. The doctor had also to consider the impact on other patient’s justice when they followed the patients' will. The case scenario guided me on following the ethics of healthcare, which will help make the choice that will best benefit the patients.
The second program of NURS 521: policy, organization and financing healthcare has helped me adhere to the organization's goals and activities, preventing the likelihood of causing risks. Policy within an organization helps nurses to quality achievements, improve the safety of the patients, and promote healthy outcomes hence improving the quality of care to patients (Zahedi et al., 2013) . Healthcare finance has helped me to be accountable for the organization's funds on medical resources. This will enab le more patients to choose sustainable payment plans, improving the well-being of the personal and organizational levels. Form the program, I have learned to demonstrate qualities of leadership in implementing healthcare policies within the organization, evaluating the patients' issues critically, and educating other policymakers about the health policy (Westcoastuniversity, 2020) . I have learned to always for social justice, practices, and equality in healthcare policy from the program.
In conclusion, professional values are crucial in the nursing career. The nursing profession is aimed at improving the wellness of the patients. Essential VIII is vital in promoting the nursing profession by improving patients' health status through quality ethical conduct, such as beneficence and non-maleficence. My practical experience has equipped me with skills on how to deal with patients, make informed decisions concerning patient's health, and formulate policies that will help improve the healthcare of the patients. Practical experience in very essential in improving the skills of the theory learned in school and shaped the nursing profession.
