The throwback fitness center is a small business enterprise located in New York City. It is a popular place for people who prefer physical exercise as a way of improving their health. According to Throwback (2019), the business enterprise has incorporated private and corporate events in its functions, besides its regular gym sessions. This has provided organizations with an opportunity to have fun, interact, and build relationships within their teams. This has made Throwback to take a significant step in establishing itself among the top-performing fitness centers in New York. However, it still faces stiff competition from other fitness centers, such as 305 fitness, Dogpound, Work Train Fight, and Dance Body. These fitness centers are also located in New York City. This is where the concept of employee training comes in.

Every business organization has established its ways of meeting the clients' demands. This also applies to fitness centers. They must ensure that they address the needs of their clients in the best way possible. This accounts for why Throwback fitness center should have a training program in place. Most employees within Throwback lack appropriate skills and knowledge to enhance clients' satisfaction and this has compromised its competitive advantage in the market. Trained employees perform exemplary well compared to untrained employees, and they will contribute significantly towards the realization of organization goals (Khan, Khan & Khan, 2011). This training will enable the employees to acquire relevant skills and knowledge in the fitness industry to improve customer satisfaction. This paper will address the two-day training program for the employees and training need analysis. The training objective, estimated training cost, training methods, and lastly, proposed training agenda activities will also be discussed.

Two Day Training Program

Most of the competitors that pose a threat to Throwback have qualified and skilled employees. The business enterprise has experienced a low number of clients compared to its competitors. The primary reason for the small number of clients is the huge skill gap among the employees of these competing business enterprises. On day one, the training program will focus on the aspect of flow learning. This will involve sharing of ideas what fitness industry entails and what roles do employees have to play. Day one will just involve the theory part of the fitness industry. On day two, the training program will focus on critical analysis of the fitness industry. There will be a thorough discussion with the twenty employees on what makes the competitors better than Throwback and how this can be applied in their business.

Training Need Analysis

The low number of clients turning out for gym sessions at Throwback demanded that the management finds out the reasons behind this. The management established that the low turnout was a result of a lack of skills and personal motivation among its employees. Any training program selected by an organization is supposed to produce positive results during its conclusion (Igbal & Khan, 2011). On day one, the twenty employees will be involved in a group discussion led by the consultant to address the possible causes of issues at hand and how to deal with them. After the causes have been identified, possible solutions should be proposed. The consultant should ensure that the employees develop a positive attitude towards their work. The consultant should see to it that the employees are enlightened on appropriate communication skills and professional values and ethics. The consultant will act as a mentor and share his experience, which will inspire the employees. Mentoring promotes employee development and increased job satisfaction as it shapes the employees' beliefs and values in a positive way (Ilieva, 2015). On day two, the training program will focus on the on-site job training. This will involve the employees being trained on how to use the equipment within the business facility to improve clients' satisfaction. This will provide them with practical experience that will better their job skills when handling employees.

Training Objectives

The training program is made to ensure that the twenty employees develop necessary work and communication skills to better the customers’ satisfaction. The selected employees will be trained on better ways to improve clients’ satisfaction, and they are supposed to adhere to these guidelines at all times. The employees will have to listen to clients' complaints and respond appropriately. They are supposed to treat customers in the most preferred way possible. The basis of business success is teamwork, and employees will be enlightened to work collaboratively in addressing the unique needs of the customers. The effectiveness of the training program will be realized in the increased number of clients turning out at the business enterprise.

Training Cost

There are expenses that the business enterprise will incur in actualization the training program. During the first day of the training program, the twenty employees will be involved in a group discussion and mentorship class. The projected time for group discussion is three hours since it will start at 9 AM and end at noon. As from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, the employees will be involved in a mentoring class with the consultant. The following are expenses that will be incurred on the first day and the estimated amount; Conference hall-$750, mentor-$250, meals-$100, beverages-$75, and Travelling-$300. On day two, the employees will be involved in on-site job training. The following are the expenses that will be incurred on the second day and the estimated amount; Trainer-$250, Gym facilities-$1000, meals and beverages-$150. The total costs to be incurred by Throwback in actualizing this training program will be $2,875.

Training Methods

The training methods to be used in this training program will include group discussions (tutorials), mentoring, and on-site job training (Nassazi, 2013). The conference room hired will provide a classroom setting for the employees to hold a group discussion that will be led by the consultant. This will give the employees an opportunity to discuss the issues affecting their business enterprise and how to respond to them accordingly. This method of employee training is more effective as it enhances interaction between the employees and the consultant. Through interaction, the best solution to prevailing issues will be arrived at. The mentoring method will involve the employees receiving training and lecturing from experienced gym professions. This method will bear fruits in the sense that the employees will pose disturbing questions to the mentor who will then respond. The consultant will also play the role of a mentor as he has a vast experience in the gym industry. The method that will be applied in the training program will be on-site job training. The employees will come into contact with a specialized trainer who will practically teach them on skills to enhance customer satisfaction.

Proposed Training Agenda

The employee will be involved in a range of activities in the course of the training program. The employees will be engaged in asking and answering questions during the discussion period. They will have to take down important points during their interaction with the mentor. This will ensure that the employees develop a positive attitude towards their work, as well as to attain professional values and ethics. The employees will also be taught how to use various gym facilities, and this will ensure that their practical work skills are improved.

Summary

The throwback fitness center is struggling to establish itself as one of the stable business enterprises in the fitness industry. In its two-day training program, the first day will involve a focus on flow learning, while the second day will focus on a detailed analysis of the gym industry. According to the training needs analysis, the enterprise has to improve the skills and instill a positive attitude in its employees.
