According to medical information, pre-existing conditions are those health conditions that had long started before a patient took out a medical insurance cover. Before the introduction of the Obama care, most insurance policies did not cover expenses related to pre-existing conditions. Such conditions include diseases like asthma, HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes and sore forth. They are referred to as pre-existing because patients with such diseases do not fully recover from them, whilst at the same time, they’re mostly genetically spread. Since the introduction of the Obama care, it is not only patients with pre-existing conditions that have benefited, but also the whole of the general American populace, most especially those ones with a low income. Despite this, there are some flaws regarding patients with pre-existing conditions that need to be improved or changed.

Increase number of doctors for easy accessibility

The Obama care provides an exchange policy which limits the number of people who access medical facilities and the number of physicians who are particularly available for patients with chronic diseases. Such is because for people with these diseases an example of orphan disease is that, there are not more doctors who have specialized in such diseases. Another example of cases where patients have a limit to physician’s access is in the event of patients with fibrosis, a genetic disease. In the United States, there are only one hundred and twenty cystic fibrosis centers that can only accommodate thirty thousand people thus, this could make some patients travel far to see specialists. In regards to this, the number of doctors should be increased to help with such conditions. (Gardner, 2017).

Lower restrictions of drug coverage to individuals with this condition

In Obama care program, all persons have a limit to drug coverage. While people with pre-existing conditions always require plenty of refilling when it comes to drugs, the restriction has made it difficult for them. Limitation of medicine has affected those with pre-existing conditions more frequently and more crucially than others. Thus, lowering limits for these individuals on drug coverage should be implemented.

Prohibit on annual and lifetime limits

In the Obama care, there are annual and lifetime limitations when it comes to the acquisition of insurance covers. With these rule in place, patients with pre-existing conditions are somewhat at a disadvantage.

Work on telemedicine and other modern delivery

In having drugs bought online and also in having them delivered directly to the patients, the labor costs that most often have to be shelved by patients with pre-existing medical conditions will be shelved. Besides reducing the energy costs, it will also increase completion and innovation in ideas. While this might seem like a general idea improvement on the whole Obama care insurance policy, it will also be helpful to most patients with pre-existing conditions. (Obama care Facts, 2017). Since most patients with pre-existing conditions often buy drugs, introducing online purchase and making it as straightforward and easy as how it is with buying goods from E-bay, there should be improved online stores that can deliver drugs on urgency and cheaply.

While the Obama health care has led to many benefits to all individuals including those with preexisting conditions, certain things should change, and others improved. In so doing, persons with such conditions will mutually benefit to it. Initially, before the program, individuals with pre-existing conditions like pregnant women were not covered by insurance policies. Ever since its introduction, the Obama care has had so many great contributions mostly to moderate income earners who had a great challenge handling medical bills before. With changing the above elements and improving the approach to the policy covering, not only the individuals with pre-existing conditions will benefit but also all people with medical cover.
