  Summary

The article discusses the Scandanavian system of Barnahus, the new law protecting children giving evidence on the court. The law aim at ensuring that children below18 years are not allowed to testify in court; to avoid traumatizing the minor witness by bombarding them with series of questions in the court (Alderson 2020). Instead, with the new law, children will only appear before the jury and provide a pre-recorded testimony. Scandanavian system of Barnahus, also known as the children's house, will ensure that children give their evidence in a child-friendly setting to reduce anxiety. Besides, they will also get support from various agencies that help children with trauma or any other health issue that might need attention.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strength of the article is that it remains the focus of the topic and thesis. The article gives an in-depth description of the Scandanavian system of Barnahus, which aims at protecting the children's witnesses (Alderson, 2020). It not too broad, thus being easy to read and comprehend. Another strength is that it highlights all the positive aspects of the systems to enhance the reader's understanding of the topic. As a weakness, the article does not give an adequate conclusion. Although it states how the system will benefit the witnesses and victims, it does not provide direction on how to go about if the child is the offender.

Likes and Dislikes

What I like the most about the article is its simplicity. The author uses simple language in conjunction with images that enhances the understanding and make reading exciting. For instance, the illustration of a child-friendly environment gives a mental understanding of how important it might be for the mental wellbeing of children. However, I did not like the idea of recording the audio as it can enhance bias. Children can sometimes be manipulated, thus leading to false statements.
