Qualitative research design is a research technique utilized by researchers and scientists to study opinions, motivations, themes as well as human behavior. According to Maxwell (2012), the information obtained from this kind of research technique offers a depth of understanding about a scenario that cannot be done using other ways. Factors that influenced the development of democracy in America, coping strategies of chronically ill men and women, the meaning of living with COPD, exploring the Aborigine culture are titles that will use qualitative research design to identify and group main themes, understanding social context and meaning as well as interpreting narratives and patterns. Secondary data, interviews, experiments, and surveys will be essential in the collection of information in qualitative research design.

On the other hand, the quantitative research design is a research technique that depends on the collection and analysis of numerical data to explain, predict, control, or describe the phenomena of interest (Dimitrov, 2015). Determining the effect of position on heel pressure in older adults, the relationship between physical activity and GPA in nursing students, determining the effects of a new drug to treat brain tumors as well as determining the incidence of drug abuse in RNs in community hospitals are titles that will use quantitative research design to explain, describe or even predict the relationships between variables (Lowhorn, 2017). The relationship between variables will be expressed using statistical effects such as relative frequencies, correlations, and differences between means.
