Racism is an issue that has been a core part of American society for a long time now. There have occurred several matters concerning racial abuses and discrimination, even at high offices in the land. However, Rachel Dolezal’s story is one unique case. She has since resigned as the president of the NAACP after several decades of misrepresenting her race. She faked black race, even when she knew t quite well that she was not a black race herself. Her action, as discussed, hurt the blacks’ race and her children in many ways.

Rachel’s pretense of being a black race earned her full scholarship to Howard University. She spent adequate time there, where she emerged as a speaker against inequality and racial prejudices. She later rose to the position of the president of the NAACP. He acceptance o this scholarship, however, meant that she denied a rightful black person the chance to Howard University for the same scholarship. She could still have gotten the chance due to her prominent role in fighting inequality. However, she did not have to do it at the expense of a rightful lack race.

Observers see that if indeed Dolezal cared so much about the black race, she should not have pretended to be black. Instead, she should have used her white race to effect change among the white community in their perception of the blacks. By assuming her foster race, she did the blacks injustice, by maybe missing out on some critical aspects of the black representation. She ended up hurting the black more than doing hem okay since she did not identify with the challenged the typical blacks faced down the residences.

The children to Dolezal were affected by her actions n many ways. Her decision to define herself as the trans-racial black woman put her in the public domain to date. Her son, Franklin, for instance, is perturbed by her mum’s unwillingness to give this all p and move on. In the short interview with Netflix, Franklin says:

"I do not want to focus on this for the rest of my life. Why don't you just let it go away?" Franklin says as Dolezal tries to defend herself. "This is going to affect more than just your life."

The son is embarrassed and ridiculed by some of his friends who see the evil and all the wrongs in his mother’s decision; they take it out on him. Much as Rachel could have meant well, her decision had a far-reaching negative impact than she had anticipated.
