Harvey Weinstein is a renowned movie producer in Hollywood has produced some of the significant blockbusters in history. However, women have come forward with claims of rape, assault, and harassment during the time they worked with the mogul. Harvey denied allegations saying his interactions with the women were consensual (BBC, 2020). His lawyers also claimed that Harvey was innocent. The accusations go back to when the man was young and starting his career to recent claims in 2013. The victims come from different parts of America, with some cases being reported in Europe. The accusations and verdict given in court had various impacts on the accused and his victims.

Crimes related to rape are difficult to prosecute, given the nature of the case. The victims of rape have reported feeling like they are reliving the ordeal while narrating the events of the crime. The act has resulted in mental issues that weigh on the victims, with some leading to extreme measures such as committing suicide (Gentleman, 2013). Another aspect is the condemnation and accusations that the rape victim is lying. Such charges can result in other victims choosing not to come out and report cases of rape, which leads to rapists waking free as opposed to being prosecuted. The mental health effect this has is also intense as some can suffer from depression, among other mental health issues.

Rape is a sin that results in various effects on the victim. It leads to distressing behaviors, mental health issues, and the victims can also result in risky health behaviors hence causing harm to themselves (Krishna, Prasanna, Sheikh, & Dattatreya, 2014). Rape must be condemned and prevented. The perpetrators of such crimes should be charged per the provisions of law to ensure justice for the victims as well as the safety of community members.
