For instance, I have learned that humans are diverse in many aspects. The most beautiful of such diversities lies in the racial backgrounds. The courses I have undertaken towards my career development have taught me that race should no longer be viewed as a basis of discriminating against some groups of people, but rather, it should be considered as a factor strength for a given group of individuals. The fact that people might be different in their racial backgrounds, for example, implies that they have different sociocultural beliefs that would be useful for teamwork in the workplace. For this reason, I have learned to appreciate the cultural diversity of the country especially after considering other issues that are factored in along ethnicity, such as gender and social class.
I have learned that human beings cannot be differentiated from each other based on gender while considering what they are able to do. An understanding of the modern society concerning the privileges associated with being either male of female differs from that of antiquity. For instance, I have learned that men and women alike should be exposed to equal chances of self-advancement since there is no limitation to what each one of them can do. This element of the learning got me reflecting deeply concerning the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the role that it played in empowering society to respect diversity in terms of race and gender. Specific focus on gender in this Act has been instrumental in empowering women who would have not been able to access the opportunities of self-advancement had such laws not been adopted. I also got to understand that the adoption of laws illegalizing discrimination against people based on their gender would have been a motivation for some individuals who are transgender to express themselves on the public arena. Therefore, the courses have broadened my perception of gender in the modern age.

I have also learned about social class as an element of diversity. However, most of the lessons on this element of diversity have only invoked negative understandings concerning the role of social class structures in society. For example, I have learned that society has always used social class structures to discriminate against the less affluent. Unfortunately, according to my understanding of the course information, the disadvantages of social class structures continue to be the only element of diversity that the nation has failed to address. I realize that society is still stratified, with the rich continuing to create barriers that would prevent an upward social mobility for lower classes. I have also thought that most of the policies developed by politicians in the modern age appear to favor the affluent, and that the poor only benefit by the way. Therefore, the nation needs to reconsider its approach to social class if such diversity is to be celebrated.
I have learned that age as an element of societal diversity entails many issues. For example, discriminating against people of lower age brackets might cause a disjunction between the older and the younger generations. It is, therefore, the role of the older generations to teach the younger ones the virtues of communal living. This way, as the course material has taught, society will be able to understand that diversity is source of power since it presents unique opportunities for sharing information concerning the manner in which critical issues should be addressed. The youth are known for their vibrancy whiles the elderly for their experience. This mutual relationship exists only when a given society appreciates the diversity of its people. However, older members within the society should be keen to assess the types of activities in which the younger generations are engaged since some of them might be detrimental to their development.
The courses undertaken at the lower levels of learning have also transformed the way I perceive the world. Specifically, I have learned that the world is home to many people, which implies that for an amicable existence, one must appreciate such diversities. I have learned that every individual advocates their own agenda, and that such advocacy might infringe on the privileges of others. For this reason, the courses have taught me to learn understanding how others might feel in my shoes and ensure that problems are solved critically. Without skills of critical thinking, it would not be possible for people to appreciate the diversity that the global community brings. In addition, improved technologies have resulted in globalization, which comes with the challenges of multi-cultural management. It means that modern managers have to understand and appreciate the issues of diversity among their workforce if they have to remain relevant to the modern world.
The learning points through the courses have also affected the development of my career and life goals. For example, I am now motivated to intervene in the lives of individuals who feel that they are not adequately represented within their larger communities. I want to empower society to appreciate the issues of diversity and what they stand to lose by discriminating against minority groups. I would like motivate those who feel afraid of confronting their world in terms of social, economic, and cultural spheres of life because of marginalization to learn that they are a critical element of their societies.
