Helping strangers is equivalent to banking. One day in the future, an act of good faith will come back to a giver. It further establishes new relationship and gives an individual an opportunity to learn about other people’s strengths and weaknesses. Yesterday, on my way home, I passed in front of the 7/11, a place well known as 1099 U.S- 1 Avenel. I was carrying some packed food intended for my supper. On the street, I found a homeless man sitting somewhere desperately. On observing on how weak he looked, I decided to feed him using my intended supper. On stopping, the man looked helpless and out of words. With minimal words, I extended my hand to give the dish of packed food to him. In a humble way, he stretched his hand and picked the dish. In the beginning, I took it as an ordinary gift and decided to walk away. It is then that the man knelt down and said in a warm voice, “may God bless you. I did not have something to eat for the last two days”. The act of kneeling touched me, and I rushed to raise him up. Then, he hurriedly opened the dish and ate without even washing his hands. The act of kindness had a great impact on both of us. To the stranger, he was appreciative and saved from a hunger situation. On the other hand, I learned that things that people take for granted are of great value to others. For a reason, I decided to be part of the solution to the suffering in society. I also observed that when people get desperate, some issues like hygiene do not count. Instead, they rush to save their lives.

For many, performing an act of kindness is an ordinary task. However, they do not take the time to observe what happens after the act of kindness. After feeding the man, I intended to leave and go home as usual. On turning back, I realized the man was kneeling for the positive action to appreciate. Although I had plans with the food, the desperate face of the homeless initiated the need to help. Thereafter, I realized it was the best decision not only for the homeless but also for me. I decided to share the story with my family members to help them learn a good lesson as I did. I choose the specific act because it enlightened me a great deal. I want to share the lesson and educate others in society and influence positive interactions. Food is a basic requirement for all humans. When you feed a homeless man, you not only satisfy him but also give him hope. When the poor lack material things to offer, they offer God’s blessings in return.

After the act of kindness, I stayed for a few minutes since kneeling down touched me. The man finished the food and disposed the empty dish in a good way. He thanked me once more, saying he had not seen a person to help that day. He was happy and offered to escort me home. Since I did not want to bother him, I turned down the offer but promised to visit him in the future.

I experience happiness after realizing I did a good thing, although it looked small to me. I learned that doing good creates an opportunity for you to understand what others go through in life. I also discovered that even the poor have something to offer; all they need is a good helping heart to show their generosity.

In conclusion, positive interactions influence relationships in society. A positive act helps in establishing a new relationship that enables people to know each other and offer a helping hand. In addition, positive interactions bring out positive character traits to both the giver and the recipient establishing a social relationship and bringing forth positive lessons to society.
