The Manifesto appeared first around 1848 after the explosion of the Germany and France’s revolutionary struggles. During this time, both Engel and Marx began their political lives as the Germany’s radical democrats where they fought for the abolition of feudal privileges, and constitutional rights in addition to popular representation ( course kit part2, 2017). Later, they revolved to be communists advocating for the classes societies and productive wealth’s ownership which could only be acquired via the activist overthrow of the present order. Arguably, it has been shown that the Manifesto was simply a well thought out and concise summary of their views. Since the time when the Manifesto was developed, greater transformations have been experienced globally however; none of them refuted the fundamental idea that is contained within the Manifesto. The essay will examine the relevance of the Communist Manifesto today.

In a period between 1848 and 1898 since Communist Manifesto publication, its teachings were validated through the proletariat capture of political power which resulted to development of the Paris Commune. Despite the fact that this was defeated after two months, it became a fundamental proletarian revolution’s prototype ( course kit part2, 2017). In the modern day, the anti-imperialist movement’s forces in addition to massive proletarian revolutions are rapidly rousing and increasing as a result of the aggravation predicament of capitalist systems globally. It is clear that capitalism has drastically changed since the mid 19th century however, the essence of the system has continued to remain the same which entails exploiting the majority by a minority who owns and controls the means of production to gain profit. It is evident that the people and the proletariat would never accept to be oppressed or exploited by both the reactionaries and the imperialists. Therefore, they have continued resurging and scoring new victory within proletarian revolutions across the world.

"Eyes on the Prize - Mississippi, is this America?" clearly focuses on the emergence of a civil right movement in the US which further emphasizes the reality and relevance of the Communist Manifesto and how it has influenced the people to rise for their rights ( Vimeo , 2017). The film thus covers Emmett Till’s murder, an arrest of Rosa Parks after refusing to relinquish her bus seat to one white man in addition to the Montgomery Bus Boycott which later followed Parks' arrest. The film emphasizes on the events of the Reconstruction era where the blacks were involved in organizing the NAACP aimed at fighting for the American freedom. The black was facing numerous injustices during this period, for instance, during the trial of the two white who were suspected of killing Emmett Till were found innocent. During the trial, the defense of the two was that the identified body was hard to identify if it belonged to Emmett Till ( Vimeo , 2017).

After the murder of Emmett Till's, there was another incident of Rosa Parks who had refused to give her seat on a bus leading to a huge awakening for massive change for the blacks. Today’s proletarian revolutionaries are very confident that the capitalist systems would be overwhelmed by numerous severe crises, increased subjugation in addition to atrocious wars. Further, it was foreseen that the proletariat together with the people of the world would fight with a lot of determination and vigorously than before for the purpose of national emancipation, social equality, and collectivism ( Vimeo , 2017). For instance, the black communities decided to bond together and in the process formed a massive bus boycott through walking to work and school. The case points to the direction that the majority rose against the minority who were controlling and mistreating them and demanding their rights. Such a case showed that the blacks had the power to rise and stand for themselves. Based on the film “Eyes on the Prize - Mississippi, is this America?" it is clear that the Montgomery bus boycott that was experienced lasted for several months ( Vimeo , 2017). Throughout this time, the violence was shown to be intense for both whites and the blacks. For instance, there was an organization established by the whites referred to as the Ku Klux Klan which broke out massive violence against the blacks creating a scary situation for the African Americans. These outcomes further brought together the blacks and enabled them to fight for their rights and freedom.

The film Mississippi Burning has brought out a clear example of the relevance of the Communist Manifesto in the contemporary world, particularly in the US. According to Mississippi Burning (2017), the country witnessed numerous civil rights movements for instance in this film; it is clear that the American Civil Rights movement begun at a time when four black students sat down at a ‘whites-only’ lunch bench around the year February 1960 - Greensboro, North Carolina and refused to leave. Hate Crimes were violent crimes motivated by a person’s intolerance of someone based on their ethnicity, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexuality or disability. The film Mississippi Burning took place in the year 1964 in one small town in Mississippi, a place that intense fighting for civil rights defined a generation. The movie details famous people like Martin Luther King who was considered as publicity stunt as described by the town's Sheriff when he was asked concerning the 'Missing persons' case, that the detectives were sent to investigate. According to Mississippi Burning (2017), two Civil Rights activists were sent to the town to set up a Voter Registration clinic in one of the local black church meant for the disadvantaged groups. However, the church got burnt, and in the process, the Civil Rights workers together with one black man were murdered due to their actions hence setting the scene of the real life situation in that town and many across the South.

According to Mississippi Burning (2017), “Mississippi Burning” brings out a situation where three civil rights workers were murdered in Jessup County where two of them were whites while the other one was black in Mississippi in 1964. The death occurred in the middle of the civil right movement. The film is a clear indication of the relevance of the Communist Manifesto where it states that the capitalism has become an obstacle to further growth and development but during Marx’s time, this was relative. The proletariats have recently risen and carried out massive civil rights movement to demand their rights as indicated in the film Mississippi Burning. It is evident that Mississippi Burning is one of the riveting dramas that is specifically based on a true story of the people in Mississippi. The civil rights that were experienced captured the American’s attention and in the process showed signs of hope and progress. Mississippi Burning is thus a clear indication that the people particularly the blacks were willing to come together and fight for their rights ( Mississippi Burning , 2017).

In conclusion, the essay has established that the Communist Manifesto is still relevant in the contemporary world where people have continued to rise for their rights. Civil rights movements have been witnessed in particularly in Mississippi and US. The “Mississippi Burning and "Eyes on the Prize - Mississippi, is this America?" films emphasize the significance of the Manifesto by pointing to the centrality of the class struggle, transformation of the millions to paupers, materialist conception of history in addition to the catastrophic economic crises.
