The organizational culture at CrudeOil Limited is characterized by bad leadership. Bad leadership at the company is demonstrated through intimidation, fear, demotivation of employees, lack of recognition, bullying, and fear. The new Manager, Jim Stone is a harsh and unpredictable manager who picks on employees he does not like and channels his anger on them through harassment and intimidation. The employees are fearful of speaking out because they risk getting demoted or even sacked.

CrudeOil violates the core value of treating all employees equally through Jim who picks on and blames the salespeople he does not like. This behavior happened whether the said salespeople were at fault or not. The act of randomly picking out some salespeople and intimidating them goes against the company’s value of treating everyone with respect. One way through which CrudeOil can reincorporate its core corporate value of respect to all employees is by retraining all the managers, especially Jim on the importance of the value to the growth of the company.

Madison’s best course of action in dealing with her woes is to report the matter to the Human Resource department for an investigation. Because Madison is likely to get punished by Jim if he finds out about it, she can request for the matter to be treated as a confidential complaint. This way, the HR department can discreetly conduct an investigation and take appropriate action. Alternatively, Madison can walk to the directors and report the issue but with adequate evidence.

Additionally, I would advocate for a corporate environment where employees are given autonomy, freedom, and space to do their duties. I would also encourage a leadership approach characterized by humility, empathy, and charisma.

The critical components of an ethical decision-making framework include an assessment that includes gathering the facts about the dilemma.
