Development of PDP helps a nurse to set goals that one desires to pursue at the beginning of their career through evaluation of their strengths and abilities ( Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015) . Professional goals help a nurse to realize the importance of a mentor who can assist them in the evaluation of their skills and competencies, a factor crucial for success in the nursing career. The professional development plan covers both long and short-term goals. Such is essential in identifying resources and support desired for the achievement of one's goals.
Well-developed PDP is essential in that it ensures proper time management and development of strategies that can lead to enhancing of set objectives. Due to the development of a protocol to guide one's profession, a nurse will be able to develop efficiency, confidence, and credibility in their career. The program is also essential in the development of key competencies in nursing that can lead to the efficient care of patients ( Cho & Kim, 2015) . Through my practice, I have learned the essence of conducting a physical assessment of patients and formulating care plans customized for patients' needs. Leadership Within Multidisciplinary Teams
Leadership plays an important role in healthcare quality improvement and the achievement of desired outcomes among the patients. As leaders, the success of various issues affecting healthcare cannot only be achieved through collaboration with healthcare providers. As a leader, I have learned that proper management of teams leads one to identify and eliminate factors that may lead to negative outcomes in patients. For example, leadership enables one to deal with medication errors that may lead to infections in patients. My major strengths, such as diverse skills in nursing, advanced communication framework, and expertise in patients' situations and conditions, have led to significant improvement in my leadership program. Through the course, I learned that the nurse leadership role increases engagement and interactions with healthcare professionals and patients ( Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015) . Such is vital in acquiring knowledge and skills that can help understand the unique needs of different parties in health care. The nurse leader's main role is to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure that patients' rights are not violated. RN-BSN education has helped in the development of awareness about how to become a resourceful leader within a multidisciplinary team. The position requires continuous development of competencies through shared decision-making and social awareness. Collaborative decision-making is essential in the realization of effective communication and accountability for personal actions. Such leads to the creation of a working environment characterized by collaboration and mutual relationship.
Nursing Research and Evidence-based Practice
Through the course, I have learned that evidence-based practices (EBP) involve applying information from data gathered on particular issues affecting patients and using evidence to develop a care plan. EBP involves asking relevant questions about the intervention needed for a particular diagnosis in a patient. The inquiry provides on a framework that can be used by a multidisciplinary team to gather information from credible databases and sources such as PubMed ( Cho & Kim, 2015) . The findings will be utilized to provide nursing interventions that will provide the best outcome for the patient. Appraisal of data obtained is important since it helps in evaluating and subsequently coordinating teams to help in the development of the plan of action that will lead to the best outcomes for patients. Similarly, it is crucial to engage in making a comparison between various interventions. Such helps in the identification of effective plans for patients. The intervention also requires constant monitoring and evaluation purposely for the attainment of goals and the sealing of gaps that could hamper the achievement of best outcomes for patients.
Care Design for Individual Groups and Communities
Care design involves the development of programs and policies that can lead to changes in current design in healthcare. The mechanism is geared towards the realization of enhanced care for communities and individual families. The program involves the formulation of care strategies that ensure that patients' safety and health needs are achieved. In the provision of care, healthcare practitioners should ensure that holistic treatment is offered. For instance, patients' social, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs should be covered. Implementation of such programs in healthcare leads to the development of confidence among the patients to nurses. As a nurse practitioner, I will spearhead towards designing healthcare facilities to cater to individuals' needs ( Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015) . At the community level, nurses should engage in the assessment of community needs to gain insight regarding dire health needs within the community set up. The process will lead to the development of care that fosters health restoration, maintenance, and promotion among community members. The care offered will be based on collaborations with other organizations offering care in that particular community to avoid duplication and conflict of interest. Community health promotion involves the development of policies that cater to health education, screening, and creating health awareness on issues such as substance abuse.
Methods of Health Promotion and Education for Simple and Complex Health Care Needs
RN-BSN program has enabled me to learn that, promotion of health for groups and individual families is based on the evaluation of factors determining illnesses and health. For example, social determinants of health should be considered that include cultural practices and behaviors that may lead to either health promotion or prevention. Education influences ways through which people can understand the importance of healthcare. Nonetheless, people's working conditions within a particular region will enable one to comprehend occupational hazards that can contribute to illnesses ( Cho & Kim, 2015) . The information is necessary because it helps in the formulation of effective strategies that promote health among individuals and families experiencing complex health situations. Economic situations play an integral role in the achievement of good health. However, poverty increases the vulnerability of individuals to diseases due to the inability to access healthcare as a result of financial constraints and health insurance. Such information has improved my ability to care for individuals and families who are poor and experiencing complex health needs.
Accountability on Professional Judgment and Actions
Accountability is mainly associated with healthcare and nursing ethics. Nurse practitioners should take responsibility that reflects their moral decisions and actions. In providing care for patients, one should make ethical decisions that should not infringe on their wellbeing. Primarily, I should work towards advocating for the preference of patients’ during their care delivery. One is required to follow ethical practices in nursing to avoid engaging in malpractice and negligence that may lead to jeopardizing of personal nursing career ( Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015) . The key ethical principles that one should apply are non-maleficence, autonomy, justice, and beneficence. Accountability on actions and decisions made in health care can either lead to negative or positive impacts on the recovery of patients. As such, in practice, I should be accountable for decisions that involve a change of care plans, commencement of treatment, and decisions related to discharge of patients.
Professional Values and Role Behaviors
Nursing values such as human dignity, integrity, altruism, social justice, and autonomy are important in nursing practice. Integrating core mentioned above values is important in the development of nursing professionals. Understanding the essence of demonstrating care behaviors such as integrity, will help achieve the best outcomes for patients. Nursing is a tedious profession, and thus, through the course, one needs to take care of their personal physical and mental health ( Cho & Kim, 2015) . Such will reflect on how one will be able to take care of others. Upholding professional values facilitates the creation of the basis for acceptable behaviors that can establish the right attitudes in nursing, which can form the foundation for the desired method of interaction between colleagues and patients.
Contemporary Health and Illness Problems
The course has been a vital tool in the development of ways to examine chronic illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. I have also acquired knowledge regarding the impacts of chronic diseases on families, health care systems, and patients. For example, health care has challenges in managing an increasing number of patients with chronic diseases. The idea has improved my knowledge and skills in ways of providing care for chronically ill people at a low cost with EBP that can increase their life expectancy (Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015). Notably, I learned that the major cause of most chronic illnesses is obesity. Thus, through the RN-BSN course, I learned that people need to use non-pharmacological practices to reduce cases of obesity and prevent the emergence of different chronic diseases. Similarly, people should consume a healthy diet and reduce sedentary lifestyles.
Role of Global Citizenship
Through the RN-BSN course, one has been able to increase understanding pertaining roles of global citizenship. Global citizenship involves interconnectedness among national economies, nations, and people to understand the global perspective of different people. Global citizenship is geared towards embracing diversity in nursing by learning on the values and practices of different people and nations ( Skela-Savič & Kiger, 2015) . BSN course was ideal since it allowed me to understand the value associated with the global community. Professional nurses are expected to participate in an association that promotes health in world communities. The participation can be done through affiliation with partners and collaborations that aim at solving issues affecting the world. The program is also important for embracing issues associated with advancement in technology and how it affects nursing informatics. Therefore, in my perspective, the course has facilitated my knowledge acquisition on how to integrate into global citizenship effectively.
Collaboration with Groups in Shaping Health Policies
The course provides information about the need for nurses to develop programs and policies that can shape the community and individual health. The programs and policies can be created through partnerships with various organizations advocating for healthy communities and individuals (Cho & Kim, 2015). The course also provides information on the importance of undertaking leadership roles in professional organizations and offers guidelines about health policies that have a positive impact on the nursing profession. BSN program has led to the improvement of my ability to share information on different projects with health care teams and stakeholders to transform the health needs of individuals and communities.
Conclusion
Nursing is one of the noble professions due to its core values that involve respect for human dignity. The profession requires advocacy since it provides information about how one can understand healthcare based on patients' perspectives. The utilization of different EBP, effective leadership, and global citizenship can help a nurse to address socio-cultural problems influencing decision-making. The course also provides information on how to assess chronic illness affecting individuals and communities. Issues such as economic status play an important role in establishing the role of social determinants in dealing with complex diseases affecting individuals and communities. Most people affected by diseases are poor due to a lack of insurance cover. Thus, collaborations should be developed to ensure positive health outcomes are realized among the poor in the community.
