One of the tasks of a family nurse dealing with childbearing families is to inform the family of the financial childbearing implications and programs. This is because several economic factors come into play when an individual is on the family way, such as maternal unemployment during the childbearing years which limits family resources to care for the child adequately (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, & Robinson, 2018) . As a nurse, the best intervention for such a family is to assist them in finding high-quality resources in the community that is conscious of the limited financial resources. In so doing, the nurse would need to link up the family with community-based organizations that provide nutrition programs, shelters, and food banks to these families with limited resources to ensure the safety and security of the child.

The other intervention needed in this case is to identify the barriers to prenatal care, which may include lack of transportation. The family may not be able to attend the clinic appointments on time as scheduled due to lack of transportation or insurance coverage. The duty of the nurse is to link up the family with other medical organizations within their community that offer such services in partnership with the central facility. By bringing the clinic services nearer to the patient, the issue of transportation inconvenience shall have been solved, and the new mother would have no difficulties going for the regular checkups. For families with limited resources that cannot afford the standard insurance policies, it is critical that the nurse links them up with such government policies as Medicaid which provides insurance coverage to families from economically unstable backgrounds (Alley, Asomugha, Conway, & Sanghavi, 2016) . The Medicaid policy ensures the new mother and her child are signed into maternal healthcare that covers clinic expenses and other medical expenses to ensure the health of the mother and the child are monitored continuously, with proper medical interventions should the need for such arise.
