Rome was invaded multiple times by different groups. A lot of the barbarians hated Rome, the Visigoths were one such group. They had been taken in by Rome when trying to escape from danger. The romans had promised them land and other things but instead they treated the Visigoths very badly. The Visigoths wanted to take over Rome because they had no home of their own. They stood to gain wealth and land. Robert Guiscard attacked Rome because he needed to rescue Pope Gregory VII. Most of the groups that invaded Rome wanted to conquer it and acquire all the wealth the romans had amassed. Basically the Roman invasions were motivated by conquest and wealth.
New Jersey farmers faced a number of problems after the war, most of which were economic. There was a huge recession which badly affected agriculture. Agricultural markets were shrinking and this was very bad for the farmers. Sadly, they also came across more problems. A lot of them experienced massive crop failure. This led to very little yield on vast amounts of crop land. This impacted their income negatively. They had issues with paying their loans and ended up in heaps of debt. Due to the war, labor was very scarce. This resulted in pieces of land just lying bare because there were no people to plant crops. Lots of crops would rot or dry up because there would be nobody to harvest these crops. Military sweeps would be carried out in the countryside and this would result in the military taking anything of value or burning it so as to ensure that enemies would not be able to acquire them. Farmers during the wall also bore a huge tax burden. This was bad for the farmers because they were already struggling to keep afloat and pay of their debts.
