A romantic love marriage is based on love between the couples who are tasked with the full responsibility of their choice of partners. In case the marriage doesn't work, the parents or any other entity cannot be blamed for the failure. On the other hand, the arranged marriage is premised on the union of the family. It normally involves the parents' input in determining if certain characteristics in the partner match with what they desire for their son or daughter. Some of the factors assessed in an arranged marriage include the background, socioeconomic status, and level of education among others.

It is imperative to note that cultures that are in support of arranged marriage such as India consider romantic love a poor reason for getting involved in marriage. The first reason that is postulated by the opponents of the romantic love marriage includes the fact that the partners have full responsibility to whoever they chose to complete the marriage. Therefore, they absolutely have nobody to blame in the event the marriage fails. Supporters of the arranged marriage have further stated that the romantic marriage does not allow the partners to know the actual character of the spouse given that during the love days, both of them put on acts of goodness.

I think the romantic love is a good reason to marry because it gives the partners an opportunity to select their mates freely, find someone they emotionally and intellectually related to. It further gives the spouses an opportunity to create a relationship that is based on their terms and happiness. The American culture is highly associated with the romantic love marriage because many people would want partners who share in their ideals and priorities such as those involving childbearing and raising. Others would prefer this type of marriage because it allows them to embrace relationships and use it as a basis for any meaningful association.
