The Saints were received graciously by the community. This is even though they were the greatest transgressors of the school and community rules at all times. As the author of the Saints and roughnecks illustrates, the Saints were very careful with their plans. The fact that they were doing well in class, and were never caught in any form of misdeeds put them in excellent books by the administration and the community in general. The roughnecks, on the other hand, were wrongfully perceived by the community. They were seen as troublemakers since they were always victims of circumstances. The deliquesce level of the Saints was higher; however, as we learn from the case, the group were so careful that they ironically emerged as ‘Saints’ regardless of their criminal cases.

The society was misguided to believe that the ‘Saints’ were better people compared to the ‘roughnecks.’ The effect of this is that the management roles and leadership roles both in the community and in the professional world ended up in the wrong hands; all because of the misconception that they had created that they were good people. On the flip side, the fact that the community did not trust the ‘roughnecks’ much, they were wrongfully denied of the right positions that would see them lead the community to better levels of ethics and morality. The more extended consequences of the community reception of the two groups were that the levels of immorality in the city were steadily on the rise.

The micro-analysis of the Saint and the roughneck groups generates an exciting twist in the entire case. It is more like the birds of the same feather flock together. The two groups of people attracted individuals of the same traits naturally. On a macro-level analysis, we realize that perception is misleading. The community reception and knowledge of the two groups of people were misguided. In any case, the community was misled to misjudge the two groups in a twisted fashion. The result was long-term effects of immorally ridden society.
