Scientific Discoveries
There were various scientific discoveries made. The regulator was one of the discoveries, and it was made using conical drums which were in reversed position. The drums were arranged in a way that they would constitute a motion connection between the driving power and the driven machine. The Howe’s sewing machine was the other discovery which could be used by nine tailors, thus making the process faster. The machine would also be able to make strong and beautiful seams, and being used by various people made the process faster. An electromagnetic boat was also made by Dr. Page, which indicated high levels of intelligence as such a discovery had not been seen (Porter, 2009). A steering apparatus was also discovered during this period by Mr. H. C Holmes. These discoveries led to the opening of industries such as sewing factories.
New Power Sources
Electricity was discovered, and a vibrating electromagnetic machine produced it. The instrument was connected to a battery, and that made it not only powerful but also beneficial. The machine was used for addressing various health issues such as deafness, toothache, and rheumatism. A mineral spring was discovered at Riga Town, New York on Linus Pierson’s farm. The mineral spring was able to produce combustible gasses, thus making them burn as clear and bright as a lamp. The gasses would burn during the day and at night, and they were never exhausted. The fire engine got some improvements, which made it better for the production of power ( Scranton, 2000) . New Materials Developed
Cast iron roofing was developed for building purposes. The cast iron was made up of square foot plates which were made in a way that they could fit in with each other. It made it possible for the roof to be watertight. The way the roofing was done improved its durability and could not rust, compared to the earlier used copper. The Avalon railroad iron was made using charcoal pig iron from Baltimore, which is of high quality (Porter, 2009). Every bar was made with the best improvement, thus making it perfect. The magnetic telegraph was made in a way that it could facilitate communication from Albany to Burlington or Springfield. Later developments were made to ensure that communication between longer places was made. The Bowie knife was invented by Col. James Bowie to replace the sword for battle purposes.
Communication Revolution by Industrialization
During the industrial revolution, various communication methods were developed as a way of sending and receiving messages between industries. New communication devices were discovered, such as the magnetic telegraph. At first, the device could communicate on a limited distance such as Springfield to Burlington. Later, it was developed to send messages to further places such as Canada. Advertisements were also used for communication purposes in London. The method was used by businessmen so that they could market their products to the people. Information was also passed through improved transportation system such as railroads. It enabled goods and products to be moved from one town to the next for selling purposes ( Scranton, 2000) . As industrialization spread over America, the communication methods continued to be developed and more discoveries such as fax and telephones, making communication faster and easier.
