This happened in a facility I was practicing my medical skills. A young expectant mother had visited the facility for regular clinics. She was in her last stage towards giving birth, and she walked with difficulties since this was her first pregnancy. Once she was leaving the examination room after the check-ups, out of fatigue, she slipped and fell on her back. Though she didn't knock her head on the floor, her ankle twisted and she couldn't stand on her own due to pain. She was put on the stretcher and taken to the imaging room to examine the injuries.
At the X-ray room, she was laid on the x-ray bed for better positioning when conducting the imaging process on her ankle. An image from the X-ray machine revealed that the ankle joint had a slight twist. The injury seemed very painful from the way she screamed all throughout the process. She was given anesthesia to allow medics to work on her injury without feeling the pain. After the anesthesia injection, the doctors manually twisted her joint back to its position. Final imaging was done to ascertain if the joint was properly positioned after which, it was bandaged.

After this procedure, she felt better and could even walk by herself using a walking stick. The doctor assured her that the pain would be gone with 24 hours and she could be able to walk without the help of the walking stick. I think that the intervention by the medics was appropriate and it definitely helped the patient. However, because her fatigue only caused this event, the response wouldn't help in preventing the recurrence of the event.
