One of the stressors that Sergeant Heinz is likely to experience is a significant life event. The action took place in real life, and Sergeant Heinze was when the shooting took place. It was an actual event for him, and he is likely to suffer from significant life event stressors. The stressor may manifest in several ways. One is through anxiety, where the Sergeant is either going to develop an overeating or undereating behavior while on duty (Mayo Clinic, 2020). The stressor may also manifest through a lack of motivation to focus on his work and may make him restless most of the time. The other officers are likely to express fatigue and being overwhelmed by the situation. The fact that they were on training and one of their colleagues was shot will make them feel depressed. They will be sensitive to their safety while going through the practice as the occurrence would have happened to anyone. Sergeant Heinz needs to go through counseling as an intervention to the stress. The counseling session should aim a providing Sergeant Heinz with relaxation techniques. Some of the actions that can be taken include meditation, yoga, and deep breathing (Mayo Clinic, 2020). The main focus of the intervention to reduce the anxiety level of the Sergeant. The Sergeant should be allowed to spend most of the time with his family members and those that he considers being close in his life. The action that should be taken on Sergeant Heinz is to be given leave while the investigation is still in progress. Being away from work for a while will provide room for the inquiry to be conducted. Sergeant Heinz will be relieved of the stress and pressure from the assignment. An appropriate action, such as dismissal from employment, should not be done immediately. Instead, san action like dismissal from work should only take place once the investigation is complete.
