Sherrif Rick Grimes parked his vehicle at an abandoned gas station. He started exploring the surrounding areas to see if there is any one attending to the station. He had been surprised by the fact that there was no one there and the place seems to be abandoned and unattended to for many days ( Robichaud, 2012). As the sun shines brightly and the wind blew past him, the introduction of the horrifying new world came quickly. He had just come out of a coma and had no idea of what was happening around him. Suddenly, he sees a little gal who was dressed in a pink robe and was carrying a stuffed bunny across the abandoned gas station. Her slippers were dragging on the ground and she seemed lost. As the Sheriff, Rick took the obligation of trying to find out what was wrong with the little girl. ‘
“ Little girl? I am a police officer”, Rick called out to the girl, suddenly she turned around only to reveal a face that is terribly damaged. In addition, she was exposing her teeth and the inside part of her skin. The picture was scary to Rick and clearly, she was undead and ready to but Rick. The Sheriff stood there in shock but suddenly realized that he had no choice but to pull out his gun and sadly shoot the reanimated little girl. The picture of the dead girl laying on the ground saddened Rick who did not wish to shoot the girl. It was clear that no one was safe and it is wise for him to look out for any suspicious person. He was now well aware of the look of the walking dead and had the knowledge of what to do if they approach him.

As he approaches the store in the gas station, Rick started thinking about his family, in this case, his wife and son. He remembered the good times that he has together with them and was hoping that they were still alike. He has been looking for them from the time when he left the hospital and was not about to give up. The picture and the thought of killing the girl kept haunting because of the fact that he had a son who is also little and who is at the risk of changing into the living dead. He was heartbroken for the fact that he was away from his family, but he was not about to give up. He had to be focused as he approached the convenient store. His instincts as a police officer were telling him that something bad was in there.
As he approached the door of the convenient store, there was a sudden silence and the place looked creepy. He held his gun in position ready to shoot anything that might approach him. As he opened the door, the place seemed to also be abandoned. Most of the things had been taken away perhaps by people who were desperate for supplies. As a police officer, he looked in the store for any sign of survivors but there was no one but one living dead individual whose legs had been torn apart. He immediately shot at it as it was trying to approach him to take a bite at him. He understood that there was no room for sympathy because one bite can turn him into the living dead. Suddenly he saw a door to that would take him to the store room. As he approached it, he heard something knocking it. He wanted to believe that there are still humans who have hidden themselves behind the door. “Hello, I am a police officer”, he tried to identify himself. “Are you okay”, he stated but no one replied. He hoped that there was someone who he could save behind the door.
As he continued to stand there, there was tension building up and decided that he needs to do something right away. He knew that there is the possibility that there were many walkers behind the door that would attack him and prove to be stronger than him. On the other hand, he hoped that there was a survivor in there. “Hello, please identify yourself” he stated for the last time hoping that someone would answer. Now he knew what he had to do. Tension rises as he opens the door, he moves back very fast as he holds his gun in position waiting for what might come out from the dark room. Suddenly, a walker came out slowly, it seems to be limping. When it saw Rick, it shouted as if it was calling others and started moving fast towards him. Rick started shooting the walker while aiming at its head. With each gunshot, tension grows higher and higher. Finally, he says, “to hell with this” and shoots it on the head. Walkers started pouring out of the room. The tension increases and all hell breaks loose and Rich starts shooting at every walker that approaches him. At the same time, he tries to run outside to his car. Gun shots are echoing in the convenient store as the walkers continue to scream. It is becoming chaotic and the situation is getting out of control.
When he is outside, the walkers stoped coming and he stops firing his gun. The situation seems to be under control for a few seconds. Rick looks towards the convenient store while breathing heavily. A small noise is coming from inside but no one is coming out. He is in shock but he is relieved to have survived the situation. There is a sense of suspense as he looks at the gun to see if he has any bullets left. Suddenly the peace that he thought that he had was over as other walkers approached him from the far east of the gas station. They must have heard the screams from those that were in the convenient store ( Miller, 2012). He looks at them with disbelief as the approach him at a faster rate while screaming at him. He knew that if he opted to stay there, he would not be able to fight all of them and every one of them would take a bite at him. He quickly came back to his senses and ran towards the car. He tried to start it but it was not working. Looking at the far east, the walkers were increasing their pace as they approached him. He kept on trying to start the car when one tried to enter it through the passenger window. He quickly shot it and closed all the windows. At this time they were starting to surround the car while others were climbing the car. Suddenly the car started and he drove fast, hitting any walker that was on his way. He did not reduce his speed until he was clear from the walkers which were trying to follow him. Afterwards, he stopped the car so that he can calm down. He found himself crying but knew that he needed to be strong so that he can be able to find his wife and son. He continued to drive, slowly as the sun sets.
