Life in the modern world is characterized by so many activities that affect the well-being of the people. The sex offender cases for that matter has been on the increase with several cases of convicts serving jail terms for engaging in illegal sexual activities. Even though the world is changing, unfortunate sexual assault is still rampant and on the increase. The sex offender registry is the detailed information about the appearance, and the physical address of the sex offender, which helps the police in monitoring them (sex offenders). In order to address the concerns of sexual assault, the sexual offender registry has been set out in order to monitor sex offenders, as well as reduce the reoccurrence of the sexual assault, and it is very effective.
The Effectiveness of Sex Offender Registry
The sex offender’s registry is an essential tool that is used by the government in tracing those involved in sexual assault once they are released into the society, or the community. The tool outlines the name, appearance, and physical address of the offender with the view of helping police monitor the movement of such individual in the society. The Act was that was adopted to safeguard children against sexual assault that was on the increase (Lehrer, 2016) . Before the inception of this Act, sexual offenders were left into society without proper monitoring mechanisms, posing a greater danger to the victim. In most cases, the sex offenders were left to mingle within the community without any precaution either to community or the victims.

The sex offender's registry provides critical information about sex offenders to the public. The federal and local authorities need to be aware of the type of criminals they are dealing with. Researches show that most sex offenders are addicts, and therefore, once they are released into the community, they are likely to commit the same offense (Bierie, 2016) . Therefore, to cab these activities from the reoccurrence, the public and the community are to be made aware by coming up with comprehensive information about the offenders. The Act to adopt this registrar was to purposely make the public aware of these individuals, and know the best ways to tackle such individuals in society.
The sex offender registry is an essential tool that helps the investigation for future offenders. Markedly, this approach enables the security agencies to keep the records of child sexual offenders for future reference. Similarly, with this registry, investigation agencies can fast track investigation process to serve justice to the sex assault victims (Ronken, 2017) . Similarly, the police can manage and share information with other agencies about the offenders in keeping the public and security agencies informed about the offender. Therefore, the sexy registry is an essential tool that ensures the safety of the victims of sexual assault and the community at large by making the work of investigation agencies easy. They can retrieve the information of the offenders once the case is reported reducing the time involved in seeking justice, thus making it very effective.
The Ineffectiveness of the Sex Offender Registry
Despite sex offenders being a useful approach in dealing with sexual assault offenses, there is an indication that it has failed in addressing the concerns of the offenders. It is believed that this approach stimulates anti-social behavior among sex offenders, which leads to recidivism. Notably, this not only affects the sex offenders alone but also the community where these offenders are released (Ronken, 2017) . In other words, this registry is believed to worsen the well-being of the offenders as they are portrayed as bad people in the society, which makes their welfare in the society much difficult.
Another disadvantage of the sex offender registry is that it may be formed on the false accusation. There are no mechanisms to establish how the act of sexual offense occurred as they have been cases where the victim is unable to identify who assaulted them. These occurrences may lead to false accusations, especially in the case where the investigative agencies are eager and ready to provide justice to the victims. Correspondingly, this approach may affect the community’s perception about the offenses, as most of them will tend to believe sex offenders are under surveillance when the fact is different (Bensel & Sample, 2017) . Therefore, in this case, it may not serve the purpose since this it will not prevent sexual assault.
My Opinion
It is in my opinion that a sex registry is an essential tool that has helped create awareness in the community. The communities are given information about the sex victims, which reduces the cases of sexual assault among children and adults as well. Besides, it provides the investigation agencies with ample time in carrying out their investigation, unlike before (Cain, Sample & Anderson, 2017) . The ability of easy retrieval of information on sex offenders reduces the time involved in carrying out an investigation, thereby serving justice to the victims within the shortest time possible. Even though it has its disadvantages, I believe the Act is important, and should be kept to serve justice as well as regulate the cases involving sexual assaults.
Conclusion
The sex offender registry is a vital aspect that has helped serve justice to too many sexual assault victims since its inception. Informing the community as well as helping the investigation agencies in dealing with the cases of sexual assault is impeccable. Besides, it has been critical in reducing the reoccurrences of such acts among the community, by making both the victims and the offenders to be aware of the act. Besides having disadvantages, its advantages have been so profound that I feel it the best tool in addressing sexually related offenses that the society is currently witnessing
