Eliot poem The Waste Land, is one of the most famous poems of the 20th Century, this is because Eliot uses the styles of allusions which are used in other texts. The poem portrays a structure of the modernized world of today. This paper will aim at discussing one major problem that Eliot believes has contributed to the world as a waste land by the use of the stories of the three couples. 

To begin with, Sexual Pervasion is highly regarded as one of the major problems contributing to the world as a waste land. Eliot regards sex as just an important aspect of social life, because people use it in order to express love and also, they use it as a tool of procreation. Today, in this modernized world the activity has abused from the initial function of expression of love and for procreation, in turn, it is being used as a tool of pleasure and getting monetary benefits. Eliot cites sex to occupying a very important role in the lives of human beings, in the past, it was considered as a development mean but in the present world sex takes the position of a negative urge where human being engages in without the application of any moral values.

According to Eliot, sexual pervasion is a problem to the world as a waste land, he points out that for a society to healthy, they must have a sexual relationship which is disciplined. They do this by restricting it and having self -control, because by not having restrictions, it will lead to unsatisfying marriages in the society (Eliot, 1922). Eliot portrays the act of lust, when a daughter in law of an older woman is seduced by a man who had a strong lust on her. To conclude, Eliot shows how sexual pervasion is a problem to the current world by using the story of Lil and three daughters.
