In this scenario, I will assume the role of an abolitionist. Indeed, slavery has been widely accepted by plantation owners in the south. The harsh treatment of slaves in all aspects of their lives, starting from the plantation farms to their households has ultimately proven to be inhuman. I differ with George Fitzhugh sentiments concerning domestic slavery. This type of system which divides profits according to each man’s wants instead of input is unfair and inconsiderable. For a fact, the needs and the lavish lifestyle of the slave’s masters would take almost all of the profits, leaving slaves with insufficient amounts to take care of their basic needs. Through this, the slaves are subjected to violation and mistreatment since they are unable to fend for themselves. Slaves in the south suffer more in contrast to George Fitzhugh claims that they consume and enjoy more than their masters.

Nevertheless, the slaves are not well fed, not happy, well clad, nor given plenty of fuel as he claims. In essence, the institution of slavery is supported by George and majority of the southerners since they are afraid of losing free and cheap labor. In contrast to the north, slavery has been abolished in the majority of the states, and the slaves have been given the free will to live their lives. As much as the southerners claim to be taking care of their old and sick slaves, it is not evident since their key interest is labor and any person who proves not to be productive can hardly be taken care of. Essentially, the state of dependence is the only way through which mutual affection can co-exist between human beings, the only environment in which the war of competition will stop, and good will prevail. Additionally, free society creates a platform in which all of this would be successful and attainable.
