The folkway I abused was a wearing other gender’s clothing. In society, different clothing delineates different gender. The given dress code in a society is defined explicitly or implicit the gender of individuals. In this essay, I explore my violation of norm regarding wearing other genders clothing.
The circumstance I established my deliberate violation of a norm was at a birthday party. Most men wore ether trousers and t-shirts/shirts, but I chose to wear the dress for ladies. I decided to conduct my experiment when the party had started, and most people were seated. Immediately upon entering the party venue, I encountered raised eyebrows as I went and took my sitting position. I could hear sounds of giggles and snickers arising from the revellers. Ignoring them, I went straight to serve the drinks. When I finished serving and was headed back to my seat, one of the party members greeted me with a repressed smile. The Master of the ceremony also applauded on the microphone, and all the people turned to look at me with smiles.

I felt a considerable measure of inward shame, humiliation and embarrassment while leading this experiment; this was maybe because I anticipated that individuals would have more unequivocal responses to my infringement of the norms than the responses I got from them. All the time during the experiment I sat tight eagerly for somebody to come up with the witty and hilarious comment on my dress code, yet nobody did.
