Policies are usually a course of action that individuals and groups identify in order to resolve some concerns. They are intended to bring change and they are specific since their enforcement and identification are to the government officials and the public. The policies require the back up of political actions. The aim of this paper is to identify the four spheres of political action and include an argument on their overlapping and connectedness.

The four spheres of political action include the workplace, community, organizations, and the government. The workplace which is the employment set up of the nurse and is regulated by its external and internal influence of the policies addresses the issues affecting patient care and jobs. The community consists of a group of people sharing a geographical area and have an interest that is common ( Chaffee, Mason, & Leavitt, 2013) . It addresses the related to the health of the community. The organizations address the issues which shape the practice of nurses and different organizations work together with health care professionals to meet the needs of the population’s health care. The government is involved in the regulation of the policies of health care and addresses issues of the laws, regulations, and rules governing the nursing practice.

There is a need for all the four spheres to work together to ensure that political action is realized in nursing making them overlap and be interrelated. For example, as a wound care nurse working in a community hospital, it requires that I work together with the government, the organizations and the community ( O’Grady, Mason, Outlaw, & Gardner, 2016) . The workplace is for provision of facilities required like desks, beds, and bandages to dress wounds, the government politically provides lobby for support, the organizations provide the expertise required in dressing wounds while the community provides the information and data

Ethical considerations are important as nurses need to ensure that they are not biased while serving so that all people irrespective of gender, race or even age get access to health care. It is unethical and immoral to discriminate as a nurse, therefore, there should be education and awareness regarding ethics in nursing practices ( Milliken & Grace, 2017) .
