Stem cells in biological terms refer to undifferentiated cells of multicellular organisms that are proficient at generating indeterminately more cells of the same nature. Stem cells are kind of unique as they allow other types of cells to rise from within them, thus creating other new cells. It is important to note that in human beings, stem cells are exceptional cells that possess the potential to develop into several other different cells right form the muscle cell to the brain cell. In other instances, the stem cells also have the capacity to either restore or substitute some of the impaired tissues. They work in such a way that they repair the tissues that may have worn out or may have been damaged as a result of physical harm that the person may have suffered. Thus stem cells are critical aspects of the human body, and one must have the relevant knowledge in terms of understanding them. Thus the paper will focus on the issue of stem cells, the types, importance of the stem cells and the dynamics involved in the restoration of spinal cord injury.

Stem Cell Analysis

Stem cells, as studies have previously indicated, are unparalleled cells that grow into specialized type cells in a living organism’s body. They can divide now and then, which consequently facilitates to the formation of different types of cells in the body. This also means that the body keeps developing different cells from a certain period to another as the stem cells keep dividing. Stem cells permit the development of novel cells. The stem cells are special on their own way as the novel cells that have developed serve to substitute those cells that may have been damaged in one way or another (Avior, Sagi & Benvenisty, 2016). Stem cells are important as they assist in cure maladies like spinal cord injury, burns, macular degeneration, strokes and heart diseases. All the diseases, as mentioned earlier, have in one way or another connection to the stem cells, and thus they are critical when it comes to the process of healing. Most of the researches have carried out studies in order to develop stem cells for the purpose of treating various illnesses in the human body. The research that they have conducted have led to the discovery of treatment of some of these diseases and the improvements that can be made in order to ensure that the stem cells effectively work in regards to treating the diseases.

There are three distinct varieties of stem cells. The three comprise the embryonic varieties, the induced pluripotent varieties and the adult stem cells. The three stem cells are critical aspects when it comes to the issue of biology and the study of human functions. This is due to the fact that they provide critical assistance in terms of dealing with the issues surrounding the human body and the manner in which the cells can be used to treat disease and come up with new cells effectively. The embryonic stem cells are type pf stem cells that supply new cells for the embryo to grow. It is an important cell due to the fact that it provides the necessary cells that are critical to the growth and survival of the embryo. The embryo needs to grow as time progress, and thus the embryonic stem cells come in to play (Avior, Sagi & Benvenisty, 2016). They ensure that the embryo does not lack new cells and that it is able to develop properly. This will be different if there is no formation of new cells as a result of the embryonic stem cells as the development of the embryo will be hindered, resulting in problems with the pregnancy.

The adult stem cells are also important stem cells in the body. They assist in the human growth process through the replacement of the worn-out tissues. In the growth of a human being, the cells that are there keep on getting damaged and thus require replacement. The adult stem cell, therefore, comes in handy as they ensure that there is the development of new cells that will be instrumental in the process of growth ( Clevers & Watt, 2018). The development of the new adult stem cells keeps on occurring throughout the lifetime of a human being, and thus the reason why they are considered as very important stem cells in the body. The adult varieties are known to as multi-potent due to the fact that they can only change into some cells in the body and not any cell.

The third variety of stem cells is the induced pluripotent cells. They are the kinds of cells that are artificially fashioned in scientific laboratories. Their creation is meant to establish whether they can be able to carry out the transfer of cells within the human body. Most of the scientists have dedicated their life to conducting studies on stem cells that will be able to lead to the transfer of the cells to the human body and thus ensure that it can work effectively. The stem cells are programmed in the laboratories to fabricate new cells which are critical in curing some of the ailments (Avior, Sagi & Benvenisty, 2016) . Thus, the cells are important in the technology world that we are living as they assist the researchers in formulating new cells that are in turn used to treat diseases, thus saving lives. The new cells that are developed are carefully transplanted on to the cells that have been worn out or damaged, and this leads to them developing new cells. The new cells developed, therefore, contribute to the healing process.

Stem cells, as has been explained, can be used to treat a number of diseases. One of the diseases that are treatable using stem cells is spinal cord injury. A spinal cord injury is a form of injury that occurs when there is a loss of nervous tissues in the spinal cord resulting in the loss of motor and thus the loss of sensory functions. This is a very devastating injury since it can easily lead to disabilities on many fronts. The spinal cord is connected to the sensory nervous system. Thus any injury to the cord may lead to an individual unable to coordinate his muscle movement and thus be unable to walk or think properly ( Qu & Zhang, 2017). There is a loss of muscle movement and the control of the body system. It is an injury that my occasion one to lose hope in life as the chances of getting treatment are normally nil. This has, however, changed with the development of stem cells therapy. The therapy provides a means of treatment for those with spinal injury.

This can be attributed to the fact that the stem cells facilitate the transportation of the cells within the body system, thus ensuring that the damaged cell can be replaced ( Qu & Zhang, 2017). According to studies that have been conducted recently, the translocation of stem cells has effectively contributed to the repair of several spinal cord injuries in a big way. Although further tests are still being done to effectively treat the spinal cord injury, the tests that have been conducted show the likelihood of renovating the spinal cord as a result of the application of the stem cells. One thing of importance to note is that the stem cells are thought to provide a unique solution for spinal cord damage restoration because of their self-renewing capabilities. They can divide and grow into new cells, and this attribute, therefore, makes them perfect for the spinal cord repair as the stem cells can develop into new ones and thus completely heal the injury ( Clevers & Watt, 2018). In doing so, the damaged cells are in this case suppressed completely, and this gives a chance for the new cells to start to grow, and thus the process of treatment is enhanced.

In the field of research, stem cells have been of great importance. The stem cells have assisted most of the researchers to understand the aspect of stem cells and the issue of biology in general. Biology is wide filed, and thus, the study of the stem cells by the researchers helps them to understand most of the issues that lie within the human body. Biology itself also essential is n that it provides a mechanism upon which the researchers can be able to discover more things in relation to human cells and body. The research that is performed offers a lot of insights into the aspect of stem cells as well as the divisions that occur in relation to them. The work done by researchers helps in understanding the issue of depletion of cells and diseases that are a tribute to this depletion. They analyze the disease and how the depletion of the cells occur and thus can induce other cells (Qu & Zhang, 2017). The induced cells are then used to carry out the healing process and thus ensure that the people suffering from spinal cord injury can get treated. The development of stem cells is also useful when it comes to therapy. They are important in replacing damaged cells which the bodies are unable to replace naturally. The process involved when it comes to healing takes a long time because the stems involved need to grow. The new cells thus act as a form of therapy as they enable them to perform key functions which were made impossible by the injury that they faced.

Conclusion

Stem cells are very important cells in the life of a human being. The fact that they can divide and form new cells has given it an advantage in terms of its use by medical doctors and researchers. People affected by injuries like spinal cord injury suffer for a long time due to the lack of ways of treating it. This has drastically changed with stem cells as they have offered a sense of renewed hope to these people. It is important to note that there have been several steps that have been made concerning the use of stem cells. Several experiments have been conducted to ascertain whether the stem cells can be reliable to treat several diseases and their effectiveness. The ability of cells to develop from time to time has given people hope that it is possible to heal many body ailments. Thus, the application of the stem cell needs to be encouraged and refined. This will assist them in performing key functions in their life as their body system will be able to move freely. Thus, the medical application of stem cells needs to be encouraged due to the many benefits that it offers to human beings.
