Every organization has a culture which entails the practices, beliefs, ideologies, and policies that give employees a sense of direction and enhances how the employees relate with each other. In the medical field, it is essential that the culture embraced in an organization promotes empathy and unit, giving every employee the freedom for invention and innovation. Employees who work in a place with a good organization culture are happy and satisfied hence are able to perform better and embrace each other's talent. When a new manager joins an organization, it is essential to find out the culture in the organization to know what exactly needs to be changed to enhance creativity and innovation among employees. The paper aims to identify the specific steps which need to be taken by a one week old CEO in Blue Sky Hospital to enhance empathy among employees and set freedom for creativity and organization.
In the health care organizations, thinking, invention, and learning are critical aspects due to the wide range of activities and problems which need to be solved daily. On the CEO finding out there is no culture of empathy and invention in the Blue Sky hospital, there are specific steps which would need to be taken by the CEO to reshape the culture of Blue Sky to enhance the creativity and innovation freedom among the employees, the physicians, volunteers, senior staff and board of directors.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The strategy which would be used to reshape the culture of the board of directors would be different from that of the employees (Alvesson & Sveningsson, 2015).As the CEO, I would need to approach all the parties and explain the need for the change to reduce resistance. I would need to define highlight values and behaviors, align the strategy procedures, relate culture and accountability, enhance further understanding of the organization culture to the board of directors and finally appreciate the employees for their efforts hence let them know the cultures which the CEO would need to be retained.
The Five Steps of Creative Design and Innovation
Empathize
The healthcare practice is a calling. Hence the staff in Blues Sky need to learn the different ways of engaging with the patients so that they can assist them according to their needs. The health care staff need to empathize with people since they need to understand the problems patients are facing to come up with the appropriate solutions.
Define
The team needs to learn how to define the issues faced by patients after empathizing with them. The staffs may need to know once they get new insights on how to solve a problem, they can reframe their statements (Anderson, et.al. 2014) . The staffs are required to know that there is a need to ideate and explore solutions for the problems of the patients. There is also the need to think of ideal possibilities which would assist a patient's problem solved.
Prototype
Development of prototype would include the staff being trained on ideation and bringing the innovative ways to the real world to solve patient’s problems. When there are issues which need to be addressed, employees should be given a chance to participate in giving out their ideas hence interact and appreciate each other’s opinion (Anderson, et.al. 2014) .
Test
As the CEO, I should ensure that after implementation of the various steps to provide innovation, I seek feedback from the employees to ascertain exactly what organizational culture aspects need to be reinforced.
Conclusion
Currently, the world needs creative and innovative people due to the changing work environments caused by different issues which are faced by both the staffs and clients. For employees to acquire the necessary values, an organization may need to change some aspects of the organizational policies and procedures. The management should follow the required steps to reshape the culture of an organization and influence by being role models.
