Among the individual's I admire most and who give me hope for the future is Steve Paul Jobs. As a youngster in school, Steve Jobs an intelligent and innovative student, struggled with formal education as he found it rather boring. However, that did not stop his creativity and innovative thinking from growing, which is among the things I admire about him. The contributions of Steve Jobs have revolutionized the manner, as well as the quality of communication, which gives me hope for the future knowing the despite the fact that he is no longer alive, his contributions continue to touch and improve the lives of millions of people across the globe.

At an early age, shortly after birth to be precise on the February 24th, 1955, Steve Jobs was adopted and raised by Paul and Claire Jobs, which positively influenced who he later became. His family had moved to Los Altos California when Steve was still young, which exposed him to an environment where companies were emerging, thus being sewn into the mix. The reason why I admire him is that he was very ambitious and he sought to accomplish everything that he started irrespective of the many challenges and obstacles, he faced. He was very resilient and got things done in a manner that ensured both efficiency and quality as is evident in the Apple products he inspired.

The mission championed by Steve Jobs in 1980, which gives me hope for the future is the one in which he stated, “To make a contribution to the world by making tools for the mind that advance humankind” (Rose, 2016). Indeed, he did contribute to the world by making communication technology that has advanced the mind of humankind since it has made communication easier and faster across the globe (Rose, 2016). This mission in itself is a source of inspiration that gives me hope because it lets me know that with hard work and dedication, humankind can be elevated using the various tool of technology. Despite the hardships Steve underwent, together with his Apple Inc. co-founder, he never gave up, even when some of his team members did. He kept pushing forward despite the fact that he did not have enough capital for the start-up, he did not even have a conducive working environment as he was working from a garage (Isaacson, 2012). However, that is what I admire most about him and gives me hope for the future as it shows with dedication and commitment; one can achieve anything.

Similarly, it is his resilience that sets him apart from historical counterparts, who gave up as a result of the various obstacles they met over the course of their innovations. Instead of giving up when he got fired at some point, Steve Jobs made a return, and his contributions are evident of the kind of man he is. Most people in the past did not have the know-how on technology, and as a result, many of them gave up when things become harder and thick (Isaacson, 2012). This is what sets Steve Jobs apart from his historical counterparts; he pushed forward with the plans of revolutionizing the tech industry and true to his mission, he did precisely that.

My example is developed from the historical problem of poor communication systems that were too slow and cumbersome. Before Steve Jobs invention of the Macintosh, which made it possible for people to be connected virtually, people relied on letters and telegrams for sending and receiving communication. This form of communication, where people would write and receive letters and telegrams, was characterized by slowness as well as inefficiency. It would take days for people to receive a message and send back a response, thus making communication slow and cumbersome (Koehler, 2016). However, through the Mac and later the invention of the internet, Steve Jobs’ Contribution to humankind continues to give people like me hope or a better future when compared to the historical conditions of the past.
