With changing business needs and trends, companies are now taking advantage of globalization to expand their customer base, interdependence on other world economies, and foster competitive advantage. Through technological advances, cross-border trade has increased tremendously over the past several years (Perez, 2017). While globalization has registered benefits to society and the business environment as a whole, its impact on organizational effectiveness is debatable. As a leader, globalization plays a massive role in workforce diversity and communication. Leaders and managers must understand the significance of empowering cultural diversity in the workplace and its benefits to the overall organizational effectiveness. More so, the ever-increasing workplace diversity has brought various solutions and challenges to workplace issues, performance, productivity, and work climate (Perez, 2017). Embracing diversity has enabled companies to gain a competitive advantage in a demanding marketplace. On the other side, leaders face the challenge of managing a workforce with varying beliefs, values, and attitudes, posing a far-greater concern on organizational effectiveness.
As globalization is inevitable in the growing international marketplace, the ultimate goal of resolving globalization issues requires enhancing sustainable benefits and reducing costs through long-term policies and mediums. Another goal in addressing globalization's challenges is promoting people-centered growth, allowing people to capture the benefits of rapid technological and innovative changes in the global marketplace (Maranga et al., 2017). Inclusion is also another key concern in securing a controlled and interdependence market. Governments, trade unions, and other non-governmental organizations should be at the forefront of implementing changes geared towards mitigating globalization issues. In the long run, leaders will play a critical role, from the ground up, to ensure that organizations take full advantage of globalization. However, challenges of culture, ethics, and politics will significantly impact these organizations (Maranga et al., 2017). Nonetheless, how leaders employ their leadership qualities, skills, and knowledge will determine the impact globalization has on their organization's effectiveness.
