The core goal of every organization is to achieve its mission, vision, and targets. To do this, a competent and skilful workforce is needed. Be Well Health System aims to achieve these targets without straining its resources. Thus, it needs a workgroup with competent participants to enhance its competitiveness. The paper will explore the level of competencies needed to strengthen the success of the strategic planning process, and viable recommendations on how to select ideal persons for the positions.
The Level of Competence Needed To Establish an Effective Strategic Planning Group
First, team members in a strategic planning team should possess good critical thinking skills. Such people are forward-looking, have a big-picture perspective, an external focus and a global view (Sullivan, 2016). For instance, as the Project Manager, I can present to the group a scenario and ask them to provide a solution. Thus, I will pick on those who can think and offer viable solutions. Secondly, ideal members for a strategic planning team should be able to withstand frustrations, fear, pressure, anxiety, and helplessness to enhance continuity, and focus on significant goals of the organization (Wiens & Rowell, 2018).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
At Be Well Health System, I will investigate the ability of each applicant and select those that can tolerate challenges. Thirdly, employees should be able to collaborate with others through interpersonal relations. In our organization, I will analyze the ability of employees to move ideas across and within the three hospitals and fifteen clinic/specialty facilities, and select those that have a tremendous positive impact on others just as Adigwe and Okoro (2016) suggest. Therefore, as the Project Manager at Be Well Health System, I will use these strategies to pick the best people for the team.
Recommendations
I will identify strategic thinkers by assessing their ability to add value by solving the existing pilot problem. In this case, I will pose a question or a case scenario concerning healthcare and ask the candidates to provide a solution. Strategic thinking will enable us to incorporate the value of our organization in their response. Similarly, I will look at aspects such as body language, attentiveness, and audibility to ascertain the ability to communicate effectively. In this case, I will be able to choose the best. Thirdly, I will assess how well they can endure pain and hardship. Ideal persons will be more tolerant and persistent.
Conclusion
To ensure quality decisions in a group, all participants must possess desirable qualities. For example, they should be great thinkers, endure pain and hardship and be good team players. In this case, they can come up with innovative ideas, be ready to listen to others, and reach a common ground concerning various aspects of the organization.
