The social context of drug use powerfully affects at least three central aspects which include drug effect, drug-related behavior, and drug experience. Drug effect and drug-related behaviors are enormously complicated. In the animal world, it is quite easier to predict what drug would do. But experiment with rat does not tell us very much about human behavior. It is almost proven by researchers that drug and drug use have a different interpretation on similar drugs realities and drug correlated situation. However, it emphasizes that the drug experience and drug effects will vary when the different meaning is brought into the drug-taking situation.

When most people are asked what causes addiction, 90% would say its drugs. Conversely, the pharmacological properties of substances like heroin and cocaine act as a chemical clip which causes users to become addicted once they reach a certain level of consumption. However, this does not give the user the right to use the drug repeatedly. Johann Hari gives an example of a granny who would go to the hospital for a hip replacement and would probably be given doses of morphine which is just refined heroin. This does not mean that the granny would become a drug addict. These findings only suggest that drugs are often used to fill a void in person’s life which brings about addiction.

Addiction mainly comes about when an individual feels left out by their peers or reject by their family members. This feeling of isolation forces one to indulge in alcoholism and other hard drugs. An experiment known as rat park test was done and discovered how rats kept in private places tended to go for water that was laced with morphine over normal water. The rats eventually died due to overdose (Ben, 2016)

Meanwhile, rats living in the Rat Park were able to interact with other rats and make use of the running wheels and nesting areas. Lack of social connection is what drives a person to drugs. It contributed to positive living. Shockingly, these rats showed a preference for regular water over morphine. Based on this evidence, Hari suggests that the best way to deal with the problem of drug addiction is to embrace those who are addicts and are in distress of the condition instead of stigmatizing them. Besides, the subjects need a connection to help them overcome the addiction. This is considered as the number one strategy to surmount addiction (Hari, 2015).

When struggling with drug addiction sobriety may seem like an impossible goal. But recovery has never been out of reach no matter how helpless one may become. Change is possible with right medication as well as programs that one should follow up to get rid of the addiction. And to those who are stressed by their addiction the starting point is always the hardest but its normal to feel conflicted about giving up the drug. In the journey towards recovery people who consider going it through alone may become harder .When people join in your recovery, it becomes easier.

One the other hand, having fun with really matters. This is because if you’re not having fun today, you do not see it, you have no hope for tomorrow. According to Hillos (2016), those are the ways to recover from addiction and that when one lives a sober life; life becomes easier, accessible and valued. Drug addiction treatment is not quick and easy process .in general the longer and more intense the drug uses the longer and more intense the treatment you will need.

Regardless of the treatment program’s length in weeks or months, long -term follow -up care is crucial to recovery. The easiest opportunity for recovery is through a combined treatment for both the substance abuse and the issues associated with addiction. This means that getting combined mental health and addiction treatment from the same treatment provider.

Addiction exacts a high toll on individual and society as a whole through the direct adverse effect of drugs, associated with health care costs and long-term complication. Desire and Addiction influence one another. It first starts with a desire for taking drugs which at the end brings about addiction. Moreover, there are some substances such as alcohol or caffeine which are fine on an occasional basis or in moderate amounts, but when they become regular, it affects your health. Drugs are very addictive as we had indicated early and of one’s not able to control his/her urge for taking drugs it can lead to a habit that is not easy to out of.

When drug and alcohol use often starts as intended behaviors, addiction causes chemical alterations in the brain that influence the memory, behavior and the insight of delight and pain. Conscious decisions develop into uncontrollable actions, and major health, fiscal and social consequences often come up. Compulsive cravings together with continuous substance abuse can cause physical problems on an individual throughout the body. Almost all drugs will cause strain to the organs and all the venous and respiratory system after continuous consumption. Numerous forms of addiction change the user’s physical structure, at times even just after a few weeks of use.

Lastly, craving is brought about by drug addiction whereby the addict is infatuated with obtaining and using the drug to satisfy that desire of addiction. However, craving or desire is the psychological effect of addiction where the addict feels like he cannot function or live without the use of drugs. Therefore, drugs such as heroin, cocaine, amphetamines, poppers, ecstasy are dangerous in any amount and should be avoided. Therefore, an individual desire to take drug leads to addiction as stated by Ingrid Walker.
