Public Health is important to me since it involves everyone. In particular, its primary objective is to improve the community’s well-being and health. Public Health prioritizes preventing epidemics or injuries that can affect many people in society. In other words, being a public health professional will enable me to give back to my community by helping people to lead healthy lives. By fostering individuals’ health means participating in various programs such as child wellness, disaster relief, public awareness campaigns, disease prevention, and promoting the accessibility to healthcare services (Walden University, n.d.). I have always dreamt of being on the frontline when it comes to helping others. For this reason, Public Health will enable me to acquire relevant knowledge and skills so that I can fulfill my dream career. Moreover, it involves people of all ages and different culture and ethnicity. The most significant thing that brings satisfaction to me is seeing that many individuals are safe due to my contributions.

My primary contribution to the community after obtaining Public Health education is living as an example. Specifically, I believe that the best way to bring a positive change in society is by being the role model. I want to ensure that the knowledge and skills obtained from the Public Health program will help others to make good decisions in their lives. For example, leading other people in vaccinations, road safety, family planning, and clean water and air initiatives increases their life expectancy (Hills, Dengel, & Lubans, 2015). Besides, if there is no vaccination for contagious diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria, many individuals would succumb from illnesses. Today, many people are suffering from chronic diseases due to the lack of relevant information. I want to be among those who will reduce the number of deaths emanating from heart diseases, cancer, and diabetes. I believe that individuals can change their lifestyles for the better if they are well-informed. As such, I will ensure that the information is disseminated at the right time to prevent major epidemics or outbreaks. Consequently, my contributions will be to save as many lives as possible since everyone deserves a good life.

I chose Public Health because I care about people and the environment. Humans are superior creatures that God created with His image. On that note, they need to live well so that they can enhance better living conditions for other animals. Although other degrees make significant contributions to people’s lives either directly or indirectly, I prefer making the difference by facilitating quality health for the public. From my perspective, everything rotates around individuals’ health. For example, when the water is contaminated, it affects all people, including engineers, doctors, and architects. When these specialists become sick, it means that others will probably have problems and might die in the process. Public Health will enable me to promote the quality of people’s health and prolong their lives. In addition, public awareness campaigns will help individuals to avoid various hazards that might have short or long-term adverse consequences (Wolch, Byrne, & Newell, 2014). Public Health will also help me to eradicate discrimination by creating equal opportunities for people regardless of their gender or ethnicity.

Overall, I selected the Public Health degree since I care about people and the environment. By pursuing this course, I will make significant contributions to individuals’ lives by preventing the spread of various diseases. For example, educating the public about the importance of vaccination enables children to grow well and become responsible adults. Furthermore, people cannot be constructive and productive in the economy if they are exposed to hazards that jeopardize the quality of their life.
