On March 2015, Daniel Kish presented a talk on his experience in blindness. He lost one of his eyes at seven months and the second one at thirteen months. As early as his childhood, he learned to navigate in his room. Kish has taught himself valuable lessons including a technique he calls sonar technique. According to his definition, sonar technique involves the use of sound clicks to send and receive information to and from the surrounding. The reflected sound operates like the bat echo, which he uses to estimate distance and understand the environment. It is very interesting that Kish can ride a bicycle, go on a mountain walk, and have fun like normal people.
Kish’s ability to operate like normal people moves me a great deal. He talks freely about his condition; the acceptance has enabled to overcome everyday challenges. He goes on to educate others and helping them to understand that the blind people have amazing abilities.

The show demonstrates the possibilities that one can attain once they overcome fear and public opinion because of their unique condition. Kish notes that his parents were instrumental in helping him to overcome fear after losing his sights. Fear can break one and make life hopeless. However, Kish reminds me that to overcome fear; one has to activate the mind and find a way of victory. The story teaches me that in all challenges, there is a way for the courageous who understand that losing one thing does not mean losing in all.
Kish reminded me of moments in life when I had to struggle with great darkness. His story shows that in darkness there is light. My kids in elementary school used to ridicule me because I was huge, but I did not succumb to their intimidations. I had to reach out for light and crawl through to the other end of the tunnel. My experience after that moment has been different. My parent too helped in managing my weight, and I am living a normal life today. I have learned to enjoy life and be optimistic about every difficulty.
