The overall positive impact of telehealth services in the health sector cannot be underestimated. The regulatory protocols put in place has much promoted the safe management of health information in telehealth in various ways. Having regulatory protocols in place have ensured that primary care challenges are adequately addressed. Initially, the telehealth services were ineffective as they had some shortcomings. Regulatory protocols have transformed the telehealth sector in various ways. There is efficient management of chronic diseases which is offered at their homes instead of them visiting the hospitals for admission. Improved mortality rate and quality life, as well as reduced number of hospitalizations are the positive impacts of regulatory protocols.

Regulatory protocols have led to reimbursement in the telehealth sector. There are a number of bills tabled to ensure the benefit of telehealth are realized by all people across the nations. The telehealth services used to benefit those living in urban areas as they could be accessed easily than those living in rural areas. Regulatory protocols have ensured that those patients in rural areas are also covered and are entitled to telehealth services. This has promoted the efficiency of the telehealth services, improved the economy and quality of care to beneficiaries both in the rural and urban areas (Marcoux & Vogenberg, 2016). Regulatory protocols have addressed the issue of insurance claims by patients, required standards for those delivering telehealth services and issuance of a license.

Regulatory protocols have enhanced maintenance of the patients’ privacy and confidentiality in delivering of telehealth services. The protocols have ensured that patients are protected from unfair or deceptive acts and misleading claims by those delivering telehealth services. The security of patients’ health data is guaranteed, and regulatory duplications are completely avoided. The practitioners are, therefore, prohibited from sharing their patients’ information with other people without their knowledge
