The tenth Caritas process acknowledges the mystery around life itself. The process challenges Caritas nursing practitioners to cultivate awareness of this mystery and to allow other people to express their mystical experiences without reservations. Nursing as art requires nurses to remain artful and ensure that their actions and intentions actively engage in enhancing the ability of patients to express their mystery. Artful nurses are needed to be embedded in human responsiveness. Nurses need to be devoted, considerate towards the suffering of their patients and expressing affection through gestures. Artful nurses have healing power and enhance patient satisfaction, as well as improving good compliance. A patient has the role of caring for their patients and allowing them, relieve their feelings, assure them and hope that they would attain their wellbeing. However, issues lack management support, deficiency of nursing practitioners, and sociocultural differences between patients and nurses.
The 10 th Caritas process has called me to acknowledge the divine in the ordinary fully. It has enabled me to realize that life itself is both a mystery and a miracle. I highly appreciate receiving small mercies and kindness hence feeling inspired to extend small mercies and compassion. I was still in nursing, I provided care for a young man who was shackled to his bed with a corrections officer outside of the room. The prison was accused of murder and was hospitalized after being beaten by another inmate. He had cellulitis to his hand and arm. When I received the assignment, I was dismayed and ill-equipped to care for this particular violent offender. However, my supervisor realized that I was reluctant and reminded me that we are treating human and that I should focus on him as a human and as an offender.
