Agricultural revolution occurred in the 18 th and 19 th centuries in Europe and it was occasioned by increased crop productivity due to the rampant advancements in technology at the time. It a characterized by events such as crop and livestock rotation which gave rise to healthy populations across the nations it affected in Europe. The period in which Agricultural Revolution took place foresaw the growth of crops such as maize which were now grown in a large scale due to the favorable climate and availability of land within the continent of Europe. Therefore, it would suffice to conclude that the period was marked by major technological inventions that brought about increased food production over a long period. Consequently, the revolution had an impact on the world trade and it is due to this that countries in Europe developed faster than other nations economically. The effects of the Agricultural Revolution manifested in cities that witnessed population growth because of people flowing in in search of job opportunities and places to settle as they worked in farms. Also, some of the people from whom land had been taken away from by large scale farmers had to move to cities and tis brought about an immense change in population patterns. In the essay below, the effects of the Agricultural Revolution cities in countries such as England and in the Middle East will be analyzed to understand how the revolution shaped them into what they have become today.
One of the reasons why the revolution was important is that it allowed the invention of the new farming methods. Such methods include the use of fertilizers and this was important since it helped increase food production. With the increased food production, there was an increase in trade both locally and internationally. Countries such as the United States and England became major exporters of farm products such as potatoes and wheat products which were utilized in industries that engaged in wine production. Increased food production due to better farming methods also gave rise to healthy inhabitants, and this led to an increase in the population. Therefore, Agricultural Revolution facilitated the growth of healthy populations and this yielded more labor as time went by. Eventually, countries such as Britain which had large populations and the capacity to produce more food became the pioneers of industrial revolution. Thus, the economies of such countries became significant in global trade since they had strong and stable economies ("The Agricultural Revolution | Boundless World History", 2018) . To date, Britain has a strong economy and strong economic ties with many countries in the world due to the advancements that it had made during the Agricultural Revolution. This has also been supported by the fact that history has put Britain in a position that enables its industries to make use of upcoming technology and apply the same to modern day food production.

In addition, the revolution was of importance to such cities since it gave rise to better systems of governance that were necessitated by the changes in social organization. With the rise in populations cities, people needed leaders who would give them security and protect them from enemies who intended to conquer their cities and villages. Social hierarchies, monuments such as those in Ur and central governments came up due to the Agricultural Revolution which were representations of the social organization of the people in the urban centers. Civilization images and even stone walls were put up by the people to ensure that their security was guaranteed. The social organization also gave rise to people such as farmers, artists, sculptors, merchants, administrators and rulers from the political class who were instrumental in ensuring order in the society. The importance of the ancient cities to the modern world is that they gave a sense of direction on how societies should be organized to ensure sanity and prosperity among the natives of a certain area. This has seen nations such as the United States of America learn how to adopt a system where people are governed to ensure that they live in harmony with each other to ensure their social as well as economic prosperity.
According to scholars, agriculture is a prerequisite for the development of any urban center. This is because cities such as Mesopotamia and Ur attribute their rise to agricultural production which facilitated social and economic empowerment. Another important aspect of any urban city is cultural diversity. For any urban center to make economic progress, it must be willing to accommodate people from all over the world. This creates a situation where the town is populated with people who possess different abilities and skills which lead to the division and specialization of labor. Cities such as Alexandria and Constantinople attribute their growth to the ability to accommodate the people who had been displaced by large scale farmers. With the increased production in rural areas, urban centers became please for establishment of various industries which led to the creation of jobs (Satterthwaite, McGranahan & Tacoli, 2018)
. This bought people from all walks of life together and given that each of them had a different ability, the cities could grow immensely. Turkey, is one of the countries that have experienced growth due to the accommodation of people from different walks of life since it is a culture that was inherited from its natives who lived in Istanbul (then Constantinople) due to the Agricultural Revolution.
On account of the above points, it would suffice to conclude that cities that experienced the Agricultural Revolution have registered significant social and economic growth. This is because agriculture brought people together and by living harmoniously, they gave room for growth within the respective cities. Also, Agricultural Revolution should be credited for facilitating population growth due to improved farming methods that were marked by better farming methods.
