The American N urse s A ssociation prescribes codes of conduct to govern the relationship between the nurses and the patients, between the nurses and fellow healthcare workers, and the relationship between nurses and the community as well as the guidelines on clinical practice and in scientific research, particularly research on human subjects. The tenets of the ethical principles are on respect and autonomy for patients (Epstein, 2015).
